Chapter 1606 - 1588
Chapter 1606 - 1588
After Jian Chunqiu finished speaking, he pretended to cover his mouth, suddenly- enlightened style, and said, "Oh right, you’re someone who can’t get on the stage, someone who can’t afford to lose. What qualifies you to be on the stage?"
When he finished, he turned his head and glanced at Chu Ge, then said, "Let’s go, we’ll talk upstairs."
"Don’t you leave!" Seeing Jian Chunqiu about to go, Xu San hurriedly tried to rush up to stop him, but Lin Dong was faster. He stepped forward and directly blocked Xu San’s path.
"What are you worried about? Aren’t we right here? Relax, we’re not going to run. I actually want to see how Qian Youquan is going to level our Gambling Stone Field!"
...
Jian Chunqiu and Chu Ge ignored Xu San and went straight up to the lounge on the second floor.
Chu Ge made him a cup of tea, then walked over and sat down opposite him. "Elder Jian, I came to you because I want to know something about Nangong Yunxi."
As soon as he sat down, he directly stated his purpose.
Jian Chunqiu looked at him with some surprise. "Nangong Yunxi? The young master of the Nangong Family who just came back from overseas?"
"That’s right, him," Chu Ge nodded.
"Why are you asking about him?" Jian Chunqiu was a bit curious.
Chu Ge had been in their time-space for a while now, and he’d never heard Chu Ge mention anyone before. This time he took the initiative to ask him about Nangong Yunxi, so there had to be a reason.
"It’s actually nothing much. I got a call from Shen Congwen today."
Chu Ge repeated to Jian Chunqiu everything Shen Congwen had told him. "Shen Congwen said that Nangong Yunxi wants to buy out the Earth Ganoderma supply from him. Isn’t that basically snatching business from Mr. Chu?"
Jian Chunqiu fell silent for a moment, rubbing his chin as he pondered. Given the relationship between Chu Ge and the Nangong Family, the Nangong Family definitely wouldn’t do something like this.
Unless this was Nangong Yunxi acting on his own. But why would he do that? Isn’t he afraid Old Master Nangong will find out?
Jian Chunqiu thought about it, his brows knitted tight, but no matter how he turned it over in his mind, he couldn’t figure it out.
"I want to get a sense of what the relationship is like between Mr. Chu and the Nangong Family. I heard Lin Dong mention it before—he said Mr. Chu and the Nangong Family have some deep ties."
Chu Ge also couldn’t figure it out. He couldn’t figure out why Nangong Yunxi would suddenly target Mr. Chu.
Jian Chunqiu seemed to see through what Chu Ge was thinking. He shook his head slightly. "Actually, you can’t put all the blame on the Nangong Family for this. Maybe it really is just Nangong Yunxi acting on his own. I heard he grew up overseas and only recently came back because one of his prophecies came true."
"Prophecy?" Chu Ge looked at him, puzzled.
"Yeah, prophecy. He prophesied that Nangong Man Sha would go missing."
Jian Chunqiu frowned deeply. What baffled him was that ever since Nangong Yunxi returned to the country, there hadn’t been any more prophecies like that.
He’d even started to suspect that Nangong Yunxi didn’t understand prophecy at all, that everything he said was made up and it was just a coincidence.
But in his understanding of the world, there had never been such coincidences.
What’s more, from what he knew, Nangong Yunxi seemed a bit autistic. But he’d met Nangong Yunxi a few times himself, and every time the guy seemed perfectly normal, nothing like someone with autism.
Looks like there are some secrets on Nangong Yunxi too.
"So what do we do next?" Chu Ge asked.
He really didn’t know what to do. After all, this wasn’t his life, and he couldn’t make all the calls, so he could only come ask Jian Chunqiu for advice.
Jian Chunqiu gave a slight shake of his head. "What did Shen Congwen say?"
"Shen Congwen said he won’t betray Mr. Chu. Whatever they agreed before, he’ll still follow the contract afterward. He’s already turned down Nangong Yunxi’s high offer."
After hearing this, Jian Chunqiu gave a small nod. "Figures. That brat Chu Ge, the people he befriends are always loyal like this."
Chu Ge’s gaze dropped slightly, the corner of his mouth carrying a not-quite-a-smile.
"Alright, if there’s nothing else, let’s head down. Around this time Qian Youquan should be here."
Jian Chunqiu was the first to stand up.
Chu Ge looked at him with some concern. "Is this Qian Youquan really that formidable?"
Jian Chunqiu chuckled. "Relax, he and Chu Ge know each other. Back then Chu Ge even cured his legs. He owes Chu Ge a favor, so he’s not going to do anything to us. It’s that Xu San whose ending probably won’t be so pretty."
Chu Ge stood up as well. He thought of the pattern on Xia Xuan’s wrist, thought of the pattern Fang Zhong had left them after his death in their time-space. It was like a riddle that kept circling in his mind.
He gave Jian Chunqiu a deep look, but in the end didn’t say anything, and followed Jian Chunqiu downstairs.
At this moment, Qian Youquan really had shown up—only it was Qian Youquan, not Qian Youquan, one of the three major underground Dragon heads.
Same pronunciation, different characters—the gap between them was like Heaven and Earth.
After all that mess Xu San had kicked up, Lin Dong was really speechless with anger. "Xu San, this is the Qian Youquan you brought?"
Xu San hadn’t expected his lackey to call in a fake either, and he was furious. He glared at the guy. "All you ever do is screw things up!"
"Xu San, you haven’t made yourself enough of a joke yet?" Lin Dong said with a cold, mocking tone.
Lin Dong laughed and shook his head. "Puffing yourself up by slapping your own face is not what a real man does. I’ll give you one more chance to back out. As long as you kneel down to my master and admit you were wrong, I’ll let you off."
Xu San was still holding his neck stiff, absolutely refusing to admit defeat, which really left people speechless.
"Hmph, a man’s knees are worth gold. You want me to kneel to people running a black shop like you? No way!"
Xu San said angrily. In his heart he was cursing the brainless lackey he’d brought—always messing up and making him lose face again.
"I really do know Qian Youquan! I really know Qian Youquan, one of the three underground Dragon heads! If you dare touch me, he’ll level your whole damn black shop!"
Lin Dong picked at his ear; he was already sick of this line. "I’m tired of hearing that. Stop bragging here. Didn’t you say you know the real Qian Youquan? I just called him for you. He’ll be here any minute. Let’s see what else you have to say when he arrives."
"..." Xu San froze for a second, then heard a noisy commotion at the stairwell.
He looked up toward the stairs and saw a familiar figure, surrounded by a crowd, quickly coming down.
When Lin Dong saw who it was, he went up to greet him. "Boss Qian, really sorry to trouble you, making you come in person."
Qian Youquan greeted Lin Dong with a smiling face. His gaze swept lightly over Xu San, then landed on Chu Ge. He took the initiative to step up and shake hands. "Mr. Chu, I heard you had an accident a while back and I didn’t come to visit in time. Don’t hold it against me, alright?"
