43. Steve's Super Evolution
43. Steve's Super Evolution
After Ji Yuan's series of words of guidance, Steve understood what he should do.
The first step is to pass S.H.I.E.L.D.'s psychological assessment, ensuring they have access to their secrets.
Then he would use S.H.I.E.L.D.'s resources to improve his team, even though the team currently only consists of him and Ji Yuan. To be precise, it's just him alone, because Ji Yuan is only a doctor who participates in decision-making and guidance but not in the implementation of actions.
But there's no harm in using it. Steve gave Ji Yuan a $100 million psychological counseling check from S.H.I.E.L.D. as start-up capital for the team. There will be more and more in the future. This is the kind of method you have to use to deal with enemies. Besides, he found that Fury seemed to be a little too rich.
Steve nimbly leaped between the tall buildings, moonlight shining on his face as he carefully searched for the high school boy who liked to swing on spider webs.
According to Ji Yuan, this is a child who suddenly gained superpowers. Steve felt that such a child should not be involved in these events. The first thing to do should be to perfectly control his power so as not to harm innocent people.
Unfortunately, before he could even encounter the kid who was swinging on the spider web, a sleek, silver, close-fitting mech flew up to his vicinity.
Steve seemed to remember something. This looked like the genius inventor who piloted the mechs.
So he stopped on the rooftop of a building and asked, "Are you the inventor who pilots the mechs?"
Stark inside the mech was stunned for a moment. This was his first test flight of this newly built mech today. He had just been adjusting the data, preparing to test whether the vampire detection system was up to standard. He didn't expect that before the data was even properly adjusted, this strong vampire would dare to provoke him.
In his view, who in New York doesn't know Iron Man? Only some vampires hiding in the gutter could ask such a question, and vampires should be punished.
"Vampire, how dare you provoke the great Iron Man! You will pay the price!" Stark shouted arrogantly.
The silver mech was like a bolt of lightning, arriving in front of Steve in an instant. Its alloy-forged arms surged with powerful strength, ready to capture Steve alive for research and development of an anti-vampire armor.
"Hey, what are you doing? I'm not a vampire!" Steve shouted, quickly dodging downwards to escape.
"Jarvis, is the vampire detection system ready yet?" Stark asked, floating in the air.
"Mr. Stark, according to the system's detection, the burly man in front of you is not a vampire, but a superhuman whose physical abilities far exceed those of ordinary people," Jarvis's voice came through the earpiece.
Stark floated lightly in front of Steve, his arrogant voice coming from inside the mech: "Oh, I'm sorry, old man, I didn't expect there were still people who didn't know Iron Man."
"And what kind of hero are you besides Spider-Man and Daredevil? Antique Hero?"
Steve, with a hint of displeasure in his eyes, said, "Looks like he was right to let me find you guys myself. The team needs time to gel. And what kind of hero are you? The Iron Turtle Shell Hero?"
"Haha, you don't even know Iron Man? Looks like the title 'Antique Man' really suits you."
Iron Man is far more famous in New York than Spider-Man and Daredevil, not only because of the coolness and awesomeness of his mechs, but also because he is a very wealthy man, which brought his popularity to its peak.
"I am indeed a real old-fashioned person," Steve said.
Actually, when Ji Yuan told him those basic details, he checked through S.H.I.E.L.D. channels and roughly learned the identities of those "comrades-in-arms." For example, the Iron Man in front of him was Howard's son, Tony Stark, which is common knowledge now. However, he did not expect that Howard's son would be such a jerk with no manners at all.
"Actually, I know who you are, Iron Man Tony Stark, the owner of Stark Industries, but you're nowhere near as good as your father, Howard!" Steve said calmly.
Stark's angry voice came from inside the mech: "You old fogey, what gives you the right to say that? You have no idea how great Iron Man is. He's a revolutionary force."
"Why should I? Because I'm Howard's old friend!" As soon as he finished speaking, Steve pounced like a tiger.
Stark was grabbed around the waist by Steve and slammed to the ground, leaving Stark inside his armor completely disoriented.
While Stark's armor has indeed been greatly enhanced, far surpassing the previous Mark 2 with the addition of the power of light, Steve is no longer the Captain America of the past; he also possesses undiscovered powers within him.
"By seniority, you should call me uncle. Today, your uncle will teach you a lesson, you impolite fellow!"
Steve pinned Stark to the ground and unleashed a loving punch.
Under the exaggerated force, the alloy on the mecha was smashed to pieces, as crisp as a freshly baked cookie, and then slowly restored under the power of the reactor light.
This made the usually aloof Tony look like a homeless man wearing shattered armor.
"Jarvis, use Light Shock!" Stark shouted angrily from inside his mech. He had never seen such a monstrous human strength before. Even though his mech was several times stronger than before, he still couldn't struggle against it.
Jarvis said, "Sir, I don't recommend doing that, it will lead to..."
"I said use it quickly!"
With a soft hum, ripples appeared from the mech's reactor, the silver armor suddenly darkened, and then burst forth with light like the sun.
However, things didn't go as Stark expected. Steve wasn't thrown back or injured; instead, an unexpected change occurred.
"Jarvis, what have you done?" Stark asked in horror.
Jarvis said somewhat helplessly, "Mr. Stark, I said I don't recommend using light energy oscillation. This gentleman in front of me also possesses that power, and you've already charged him up."
Stark clearly didn't hear the emotions conveyed in Jarvis's mechanical language; his attention was completely drawn to Antique Warrior across from him.
Steve hovered in the air, his hair standing on end, pure white light swirling around his body, and even his eyes shone with light, making him seem to possess some kind of divinity.
He slowly floated to the stunned Stark, grabbed him, and asked, "What did you do to me?"
Although he asked this question, Steve was thinking of someone else.
Stark grinned and said, "What did I do? If I could make someone fly without any tools, I'd give you a good spanking!"
Steve angrily threw Stark to the ground, but unexpectedly another mech flew in, caught Stark, and sped away.
Only a cheeky voice remained in the air: "Antique Hero, I'm off!"
Steve's lips twitched with anger, but he didn't chase after them. He felt he should first figure out the true source of this power.
This power arises from somewhere deep within my heart.
