Chapter 145 Harry the Werewolf Kills His Godfather
Chapter 146 Harry the Werewolf Kills His Godfather
Picking up where we left off, Hermione cried out in alarm as the werewolf in the screaming shed burrowed underground:
"Don't get bitten! It will infect you and turn you into werewolves too!"
Harry and Ron were startled upon hearing this and each cast an armor charm to protect themselves.
Just as they were on guard, a loud "bang" was heard from about 30 feet away, and the werewolf burst out of the ground and ran straight out the door.
Harry shouted, "Don't let that rascal get away! If he breaks out of the house, he'll wreak havoc on the village!"
"An impregnable fortress!"
"Entwined by vines!"
Ron and Hermione shouted in unison, one a solid wall, the other a werewolf trapped, leaving the creature unable to advance or retreat.
No sooner said than done, Harry lunged forward and swung his sword. Though the werewolf could not see the blade, it seemed to sense something, twisting its head to dodge, then breaking free of the vines and fleeing towards the second floor.
Harry and his two companions followed closely behind, unleashing dozens of spells that caused the werewolf to howl incessantly.
They chased the werewolf straight up to the second-floor attic, where they found the creature huddled in a corner, baring its teeth and growling, its eyes gleaming with a menacing light.
Ron gripped his wand tightly, still shaken, and said, "No wonder the locals said there were ghostly howls coming from the Screaming Shack; it turns out there was a werewolf hiding here."
Harry, sword drawn, shouted, "Brother, enough talk! Let's finish this bastard off first, then we can talk!"
Seeing that there was no way to retreat, the werewolf gritted his teeth, kicked hard with his hind legs, and with a "crack", the floor broke open, and he rushed straight for Ron's face like an arrow.
As luck would have it, the glass lamp hanging from the ceiling suddenly fell and struck the werewolf squarely on the top of his head, making him see stars and stagger as if he were about to fall.
Seeing Ron narrowly escape danger, Harry was filled with rage and shouted, "Big sister and brother, show no more mercy! If we don't rid the people of this scourge today, we'll be unworthy of being heroes!"
The three men immediately surrounded the werewolf, each employing their own methods. Although the werewolf was thick-skinned and tough, how could it withstand the relentless attacks of the three men?
Seeing that his life was in danger, the werewolf had no will to fight, but he grew his fangs three inches longer and his claws whistled through the air, ready to fight like a cornered beast.
What a fierce battle! Harry's blade flashed like snow, Hermione's spells flew like shooting stars, and Ron, though flustered, remained composed, just like the three heroes fighting Lu Bu.
The werewolf pounced with ferocious force, as powerful as the tiger on Jingyang Ridge; the three heroes darted and weaved swiftly, like the Liangshan heroes battling a vicious beast. Claws lashed and curses terrified even ghosts and gods; the sound of blades cleaving and the wind shook the roof beams. Truly, this was a battlefield unfolding in the narrow attic, where heroes and ferocious beasts clashed!
After fifteen rounds of fighting, the werewolf grew increasingly weak, unable to withstand the killing blows even when he used all his skills.
Strange things often happened during the battle; it tripped, tables and chairs fell over, and its body itched, making it impossible for it to concentrate.
Just as he was about to be overwhelmed, Hermione cast another spell that struck him squarely in the chest and abdomen. With a loud thud, the werewolf crashed into a pillar, sending dust and dirt flying down and filling the entire attic with smoke and dust, before falling silent.
As the saying goes, "Strike while the iron is hot." The three heroes were not about to let him off easily, and they all used powerful magic spells to strike him. The screams of pain echoed through the smoke and dust, and the magic light flashed frequently.
Ron cast a binding spell, spat, and said, "Harry, I've bound it! Cut off its head!"
Harry laughed heartily, "Brother, that's exactly what I wanted to hear!"
He drew his knife, ready to finish off the beast. Suddenly, a faint call came from the dust:
"Wait, wait a minute, Harry..."
"It's me... Lupin..."
Harry was struck dumb upon hearing the sound. When the dust settled, he looked closely, but there was no werewolf to be seen. It was clearly the poor, unassuming Remus!
He immediately threw the knife to the ground, rushed forward, and took off his robe to cover the man's body, crying out in anguish, "It hurts so much! How could it be my second uncle? I almost committed the heinous crime of murdering my own father!"
Ron and Hermione saw it clearly and were both dumbfounded.
"Professor Lupin?!"
"You're a werewolf! No wonder you're afraid of the full moon!"
Lu Ping, his face bruised and swollen, with several wounds on his body, still struggled to his feet and said shakily:
"Your...leaf, now, put it in a bottle and let it bask in the moonlight...the full moon is over."
"The thing is in my robe, on the clothes rack downstairs..."
Harry pounded his chest and stamped his feet, exclaiming, "What kind of Animagus is this! We can practice next month! Uncle, hang in there, I'll go find a good doctor with you right now!"
Having said that, he tried to help him out of the house. Ron and Hermione also rushed to help, casting three or five healing spells.
Lupin gripped Harry's wrist tightly and shook his head. "Werewolves aren't as fragile as you think. Complete your training steps first."
"This is one of the few things I can do to help you."
Seeing his resolute words, Harry dared not delay. He immediately went out of the house, took the leaf from his mouth under the moonlight, and placed it at the bottom of the crystal bottle.
He plucked another hair from his sideburns, and took some dew from a silver spoon, placing the ghost-faced moth pupa inside. As the objects entered the bottle, they shimmered with silver light, like stars falling into a jade cup.
Lupin watched intently from the side until Harry corked the crystal bottle, then let out a long sigh and collapsed to the ground.
"Alright, all you need to do now is store this potion in a quiet, dark place and wait for the next thunderstorm to arrive."
"While you wait for the storm, you need to recite the Animagus incantation at sunrise and sunset every day. I'll teach you that when I get back."
Harry bowed and said, "Thank you for your guidance, Uncle."
After the two finished speaking, Hermione said firmly, "Is this why you didn't learn the Animagus, Professor Lupin?"
"Because you are a werewolf yourself."
"Oh, Hermione, you've got the logic all mixed up." Lupin knew he couldn't deny it, so he just shook his head and sighed, "It's because James and the others knew I was a werewolf that they wanted to transform into Animagus to keep me company."
"Of course, it's also to subdue me during the full moon, so I won't hurt anyone."
Upon hearing this, Harry's mind raced, and he exclaimed, "Oh dear! The Shrieking Shack is haunted? Could it be because my uncle transformed into a werewolf here when he attended school?"
"You're right, in fact, this screaming shack was built for me."
Listen, dear reader: It turns out that the werewolf carries wolf venom, and every full moon it transforms into a mad wolf. How could an ordinary school dare to take in such a ferocious demon?
Only Dumbledore possessed a compassionate heart and performed benevolent deeds. Upon hearing that Lupin had been infected by werewolves in his youth, he disregarded the advice of the school board members and took this unfortunate boy into Hogwarts.
He secretly sent craftsmen to build a secret house on the left and right of Hogsmeade, planting withered vines and old trees all around to conceal its presence. Every full moon night, he would have Lupin go there alone to transform.
After saying this, Lupin staggered to his feet and said, "To be honest, I never expected anyone to come to the Screaming Shack, especially since it happened to be the day I transformed."
Upon hearing this, Ron broke out in a cold sweat and apologized repeatedly, "Uh... Professor Lupin, I'm really sorry, we didn't know that werewolf was you."
"No, Ron, it is absolutely the right choice to attack a werewolf of unknown origin."
"A single werewolf that has lost its mind is enough to kill more than a dozen students."
Then, Lupin carefully rubbed his face and looked at Harry and the other two with lingering fear, saying, "Of course, I mean when I was in school."
"I didn't expect third-year students to be so strong these days."
If I hadn't fought so hard just now, I probably would have really died here.
Harry felt even more guilty for hitting him when he saw that she didn't seem to care. Just as he was about to offer a respectful apology, Hermione suddenly spoke up: "No, you're lying!"
"You're not telling the truth!"
