Chapter 19 Visiting the Tang Clan
Chapter 19 Visiting the Tang Clan
In the past few days, Huo Yutong and Xiao Xiao have been auditing classes in the Soul Guidance Department after finishing their courses in the Martial Soul Department. Fan Yu is a good teacher.
They also ran into Tang Ya, a senior they had met a few days earlier. Tang Ya invited them to visit Tang Sect and they learned that Bi Ji and Zi Ji were teaching Tang Ya's class.
Before going to bed, I would listen to Mr. Yi share his knowledge.
And so, Huo Yutong's first week at Shrek Academy officially came to an end.
Early on the weekend morning, she and Xiao Xiao went to find Biji and Ziji.
Huo Yutong explained to them that Tang Ya had invited them to visit the Tang Clan that afternoon and hoped that the two older sisters could go together. They agreed.
"Now that we're here, we should definitely take the time to appreciate the sights of Shrek City."
The morning sunlight bathed the ancient city bricks in a warm golden glow. Shops lined both sides of the street, and the sounds of vendors hawking their wares, conversations, and carriages mingled together to create a vibrant and lively symphony.
Murasaki seemed to have already figured out the route, leading the three of them through the main street and alleyways.
During her week-long investigation of Shrek City, Zi Ji discovered that Shrek City had a city lord's mansion but no city lord; to be precise, it had once had a city lord.
However, what surprised and warmed Huo Yutong and Xiao Xiao even more was Zi Ji's next move.
As she passed a pastry shop with its enticing aroma, Ziji naturally stopped in her tracks.
"This, this, and that kind over there, four portions of each."
"Sister Ziyan, this is too much of a waste..." Huo Yutong said hurriedly.
Zi Ji simply waved her hand and stuffed the two still-warm oil paper packages into her and Xiao Xiao's arms: "Since it's an experience, you should try them all."
She picked up a small almond cookie herself, put it in her mouth, and savored it.
This was just the beginning. The rest of the trip almost became Murasaki's "snack exploration journey".
Brigitte followed behind the three, and couldn't help but smile as she looked at Ziji's "shopaholic" appearance, which was so different from her usual self.
She didn't stop them, but gently reminded the two girls and Ziji to eat slowly, and also tasted a bite of the snacks Ziji handed her.
Brigitte herself didn't eat much; most of the time, she observed the expressions on Zi Ji, Huo Yutong, and Xiao Xiao's faces as they savored the sweets. She watched their satisfied smiles as they enjoyed each bite.
In the afternoon, under the bright sunshine, Huo Yutong and Xiao Xiao, accompanied by Bi Ji and Zi Ji, arrived at the Tang Sect as agreed.
Meanwhile, Beibei and Tangya were already waiting in front of the somewhat dilapidated gate.
"Welcome to Tang Sect!" Bei Bei and Tang Ya said.
Then, Bei Bei turned her gaze to the slightly mottled but still imposing sect plaque in front of her and said to everyone, "This is the Tang Sect. Ten thousand years ago, it stood shoulder to shoulder with Shrek Academy and was undoubtedly the number one sect on the continent."
The founder of this sect, and the one who laid the foundation for the Tang Sect's glory, was none other than Tang San, the ancestor of the Tang Sect. He later inherited the divine position, becoming the Sea God and the Asura God of the God Realm.
His introduction made Huo Yutong and Xiao Xiao's eyes widen, especially when they heard the words "Ancestor Tang San" and "Sea God," they were filled with awe.
"The Tang Clan's unique skills, such as the Mysterious Heaven Skill, the Mysterious Jade Hand, the Crane Control and Dragon Capture, and the Ghost Shadow Step, are all profound and mysterious."
The Tang Clan's hidden weapons are unparalleled in the world. From ordinary sleeve darts and crossbow bolts to the powerful Buddha's Wrath Lotus and Rain of Pear Blossom Needles, each one embodies the supreme wisdom of their ancestors.
Beibei's voice was full of pride, but it quickly turned into a soft sigh.
"However... times have changed. With the rise of soul tools, the Tang Sect has gradually declined and become what it is today."
But this is still Xiaoya's and my home, the place we vow to protect and restore to its former glory.
"Please come in!" Tang Ya once again warmly invited everyone to enter the Tang Clan.
Passing through the gate, you enter a spacious courtyard, but many parts of it appear desolate, and the buildings show signs of age.
Tang Ya and Bei Bei led the way, introducing the exhibits as if they were precious treasures:
"This used to be the training ground, where countless Tang Clan disciples practiced martial arts and strengthened their bodies... That's the council hall over there, where the elders of the sect discussed important matters..."
Xiao Xiao looked around curiously. She wasn't as fascinated by historical stories as Huo Yutong, but she was very interested in the ancient atmosphere and novel environment.
She leaned closer to Huo Yutong and whispered, "It's a bit old, but it feels so imposing!"
"Imagine what it looked like 10,000 years ago, it must have been incredibly impressive!" She frowned when she saw some dilapidated houses.
When Huo Yutong arrived at a room filled with various ingenious mechanisms and metal parts, her eyes lit up instantly, and she immediately became engrossed in observing the structure of those hidden weapons.
Xiao Xiao also curiously picked up a strangely shaped sleeve arrow tube to play with, but was soon attracted by a decorative object with intricate patterns carved next to it.
Tang Ya and Bei Bei enthusiastically explained things to them and even demonstrated their unique skills such as the Ghost Shadow Step and the Jade Hand, as well as the use of several hidden weapons, in the training ground.
As the tour drew to a close, Tang Ya took a deep breath, faced Bi Ji and Zi Ji, and said with utmost sincerity:
"Teacher Huo Biling, Teacher Huo Ziyan! The Tang Sect is now in decline, but I would like to humbly request that you two serve as guest elders of the Tang Sect."
There's no need for you two to concern yourselves with worldly affairs. I only hope that, through your names, I can secure a brief respite and a chance for the Tang Clan to develop.
Biji and Ziji exchanged a glance.
Biji spoke first, "Your dedication to the sect is truly touching. Although the Tang Sect is currently in a slump, its heritage and history are indeed worth protecting."
Since Ziyan and I have chosen to experience the world, becoming guest elders of the Tang Clan and witnessing the revival of an ancient sect may just be an interesting journey that fate has arranged for us.
Then everyone's attention turned to Murasaki.
The silence lasted for a few seconds, and just as Tang Ya's heart began to sink, Zi Ji said, "I have no interest in empty fame."
But Zi Ji changed the subject slightly and continued, "However, this place... and the people here are more interesting than I expected."
She looked at Tang Ya, "Guest Elder? Sure. But remember, we won't protect the Tang Clan without any worries."
True strength ultimately depends on yourselves. If you and your Tang Clan can demonstrate potential worthy of investment, we will naturally not stand idly by.
"Thank you! Thank you, Teacher Huo Biling! Thank you, Teacher Huo Ziyan!"
Tang Ya burst into tears of joy and bowed repeatedly. Bei Bei also breathed a sigh of relief and once again solemnly bowed to the two women.
"That's great!" Xiao Xiao exclaimed happily. Huo Yutong was also genuinely happy for Tang Ya.
Then Zi Ji said that since she had become a guest elder, she wanted to test Bei Bei and Tang Ya's abilities.
Zi Ji didn't even use her soul power; she relied on her physical strength to knock Bei Bei and Tang Ya to their knees with a single punch each.
"Now that I've become an elder, I need to do something. Every weekend afternoon, I'll give you special training. Yu Tong and Xiao Xiao, come along too."
