Chapter 36 Farewell
Chapter 36 Farewell
The next morning at 10:00 AM.
Wang Yang's face was gloomy and ashen, his brows furrowed with suppressed anger and resentment from the past few days. He strode into the office hall.
He immediately spotted Su Xiao at her workstation, strode forward, his face extremely serious, and said in a deep voice, "Su Xiao, come to my office."
Su Xiao's heart skipped a beat, thinking it might be about her transfer. She stood up and followed Wang Yang into the general manager's office.
The door closed. Wang Yang clutched the official transfer order that had just arrived from the group's human resources department, the paper almost crumpled from his grip. His eyes blazed with fury, and his heart was filled with resentment and helplessness.
Things are different now. Ever since the joint letter from the board of directors caused a rift, he and Zhao Xiankun have completely broken off relations. In the past, he could have acted impulsively and stormed into the chairman's office to argue his case and demand an explanation. But now, let alone confronting him, he can hardly move an inch on the floor where the chairman's office is located, and he might not even be able to get in the door.
The five companies are about to merge, and Zhao Xiankun is pulling away his right-hand men at this crucial moment. It's simply outrageous.
He suppressed the surging anger and resentment in his chest, turned to look at Su Xiao, and said in a deep, restrained anger, "Su Xiao, the group's official transfer order has come down; you're being transferred away from Tiancheng!"
Are you going or not?
"There is still room for maneuver in this matter."
Wang Yang looked at her intently and made a solemn promise.
"As long as you are willing to voluntarily refuse this transfer and refuse to sign the papers, I will immediately report the appointment and promote you to manager of Tiancheng Business Contracts Department. That way, even Zhao Xiankun will have no reason to force you to transfer to headquarters."
Wang Yang took a deep breath, his anger still burning in his eyes, but his tone was more earnest and pleading: "Su Xiao, to be honest with you, I don't want you to go. Tiancheng needs you right now."
"Stay at Tiancheng. I will definitely give you important responsibilities and trust you. From now on, you will be in charge of Tiancheng's costs and contracts. Isn't that much safer than going to headquarters and having to deal with people's attitudes?"
Su Xiao listened quietly to Wang Yang's heartfelt plea to stay, her heart filled with mixed emotions.
It wasn't that she didn't appreciate Wang Yang's kindness; Wang Yang had caused a scene in the chairman's office and had a huge argument with Maria over her joining the company. She had always remembered that, and now, to keep her, she had even made her the manager of the business contracts department.
While she felt grateful, she ultimately had to choose her own career path. She knew she hadn't let Wang Yang down, and now a bigger stage awaited her; she had no reason not to take it.
She looked steadily at Wang Yang, her eyes clear and open, her tone sincere and firm: "President Wang, since I joined Tiancheng, I have never been diligent or conscientious in my duties, and I have never slacked off in the slightest."
"I have given Tiancheng the stage to showcase my talents, and I have done my best to repay Tiancheng: sorting out the messy ledgers that have been accumulated for many years, rectifying the accounting loopholes, optimizing the cost approval process, and repeatedly reducing unnecessary expenses in project accounting, saving the company real project costs, and truly improving the overall work efficiency of the cost department. I believe that I have never let you down, and I have never let Tiancheng down in the slightest."
"I cherish everything I have here, but now there's a bigger, broader stage," Su Xiao said calmly but firmly. "I want to give it a try. You should understand me, right?"
Looking at Su Xiao, who was resolute and rational, Wang Yang's pent-up desire to keep her and his suppressed anger gradually turned into deep helplessness and disappointment.
He could tell that Su Xiao's mind was made up. Neither a promotion nor emotional appeals could sway her. It's perfectly understandable that a young person with ambitions wants to reach far and wide, unwilling to be confined to a small company, and yearning to climb higher.
After a long silence, Wang Yang sighed heavily, his shoulders slumped, and his brows furrowed with a sense of desolation and helplessness.
"Very well, everyone has their own ambitions, I won't force you to stay." Wang Yang waved his hand wearily, his tone full of regret.
"You should prepare to hand over your work."
"Thank you, Mr. Wang." Su Xiao bowed deeply, her eyes full of sincerity.
Su Xiao turned and left the office, gently closing the door behind her.
Wang Yang felt a mix of resentment and relief; perhaps it was time to retire. He sighed softly, accepting the inevitable course of events and feeling powerless to change it. This was probably the feeling he had.
Su Xiao walked slowly out of Wang Yang's office, her emotions calming down slightly. Returning to her workstation, she meticulously organized and checked the pile of cost reports, project ledgers, and accounting documents on her desk. After completing the initial handover procedures, she finished everything. With everything settled, she turned and walked towards the front desk, intending to say a proper goodbye to Du Juan, with whom she had always gotten along well.
Looking at the innocent, enthusiastic, and bright-eyed Dujuan before her, Su Xiao's tense heartstrings softened suddenly, and a feeling of reluctance welled up within her. She sighed softly and said gently, "Dujuan, there's something I need to tell you. I'll be leaving Tiancheng soon."
"What? You're leaving Tiancheng?"
Du Juan suddenly looked up, her eyes widening in disbelief. She instinctively lowered her voice, her eyes quickly reddening, her tone filled with panic and confusion:
"Sister Xiaoxiao, you're doing so well, why do you suddenly want to leave? Are you being wronged at work? Or is someone deliberately making things difficult for you? Tell me, don't keep it to yourself."
"Don't overthink it. There's no such thing as being wronged or embarrassed." Su Xiao smiled gently, amused by her anxious appearance, and explained softly, "It's a normal personnel transfer. I'm being transferred to the group headquarters."
"Transferred to the group headquarters?! Really, Sister Xiaoxiao? That's wonderful!"
Du Juan was initially taken aback, then her face lit up with genuine joy. She was truly happy for Su Xiao, but this joy was short-lived. A sense of melancholy and reluctance crept into her eyes, and her voice lowered.
"Although this is wonderful news and I'm genuinely happy for you, I really can't bear to part with you."
Looking at her reddened eyes and genuine emotions, Su Xiao felt a warm glow in her heart. The fatigue accumulated from the workplace conflicts of the past few days dissipated, and she stepped forward to give her a gentle hug.
"Silly girl, it's just a transfer to the group headquarters, not leaving Yinghai or Shanghai. You can come to the headquarters to see me when you have free time. We can still have meals and chat together during lunch breaks and after get off work. We can also go out for a walk together on weekends. It's not like we'll never see each other again."
"That's true, but when I turn around at work and don't see you, I always feel empty and it's really hard to get used to." Du Juan lowered her head and muttered softly, unable to hide the disappointment in her heart.
"Don't be so sentimental." Su Xiao gently smoothed the sadness between her brows and patiently comforted her in a soft voice.
"You're still young, and the front desk job is just a temporary transition. In your spare time, you must enrich yourself, learn and reflect more. If you have the opportunity, try to prepare for graduate school. Work hard to improve yourself so that you will have more choices and be able to go to a better platform in the future."
Du Juan gently sniffed her sore nose, forced a smile, and nodded emphatically:
"I understand, Sister Xiaoxiao. I will definitely listen to you and work hard."
After she finished speaking, her eyes filled with a hint of reluctance, she sincerely wished, "Sister Xiaoxiao, I wish you all the best at headquarters and that you rise to higher positions! Don't forget your little colleague at the front desk of Tiancheng in the future!"
"Don't worry, it won't happen."
Su Xiao's eyes softened, and a gentle smile spread across her face. Although there was reluctance to part, everyone had their own path ahead, and sincere blessings were the best farewell.
