Chapter 100: It's dark in Ravenclaw too?
The tradition of having young wizards cross the Black Lake in groups of four is a regular event at the start of each Hogwarts school year. It is said to be in emulation of the four great masters of Hogwarts who crossed the Black Lake.
Hagrid used to always travel by boat, but this year he chose to ride a walnut, so he had to take a longer route. However, the thought of so many young wizards sailing on the Black Lake without anyone to guide them was quite a challenge.
"Ah, we should have prepared earlier. Why don't you guys stay here and guide the little wizards while I ride Walnut on a longer route?" Hagrid said in a low voice.
"Actually, there's no need to go through all that trouble." Kane said, taking a large pile of materials out of the little pumpkin's mouth. Then, his hands began to move up and down rapidly, almost as fast as a transformation spell, and he conjured a large flatbread raft, which he placed on the Black Lake.
To be honest, to outsiders, this move is basically just a transformation, no different from a transformation.
Then he patted the walnut and made it stand on it.
"Wow, that's so steady!" Hagrid exclaimed in surprise.
"So how are we going to get this raft moving? It doesn't have any magic, and there aren't any sails or anything like that," Hermione suddenly asked, a terrible thought creeping into her mind.
Kane has always been unscrupulous and without any moral compass, so he's perfectly capable of sitting firmly in the walnut boat and making them go down to row.
If Kane knew Hermione's thoughts, he would be completely baffled. What kind of beast did she take him for? Could he be that kind of person? To enjoy himself while leaving the dirty and tiring work to others? Absolutely not!
He slowly stood up from the walnut and called out to the young wizards below, "There's a chance to change boats and travel with us and this cow to Hogwarts. Anyone interested?"
As soon as Kane finished speaking, the young wizards below erupted in excitement. After all, young wizards at this age like to be different from others, and they even want to wear socks that are a different color from everyone else's.
Everyone was vying for this completely different opportunity to go to Hogwarts.
Luna also wanted to try it, after all, she really liked walnuts, but Ginny quickly stopped her: "Don't go. I don't know what that senior is like, but I've gotten to know Kane very well in the past two weeks. He must be up to no good."
Although Luna was somewhat disappointed, she didn't say anything and remained obediently seated on the boat.
Soon, as the fourth wizard jumped onto the raft, Kane quickly pulled out his wand and threw the other wizards who were about to board back onto their boat.
"Alright, there are only four spots available, that's settled then."
Upon hearing Kane's words, the four victorious wizards all looked excitedly at the losers on the ordinary ship.
Then Kane appeared behind them with a smile and patted them on the shoulder.
"What's wrong, senior?" the young wizards asked obediently.
"Haha, of course it's a good thing." Kane reached out and pulled out a paddle, then suddenly shifted the paddles apart. Originally, Kane had used magic to disguise the four paddles as one, but now that the disguise was removed, he gave one paddle to each of them.
"Alright, each of you grab a paddle and start rowing."
The four little wizards: "????"
"Senior, this isn't right, is it? This pancake doesn't have any magic to row a boat, does it?" one of the young wizards asked.
Kane patted the young wizard on the shoulder: "Look at what you're saying. If this ship had that kind of magic, would you even be able to get on? Hurry up and row faster so we can get back to watch your Sorting Ceremony sooner."
After saying that, he quickly climbed onto the back of the walnut tree, using both his hands and feet. He was afraid that if he didn't hurry, a little wizard would be tempted to hit him with a club.
And so, Kane, who had tricked four young wizards into acting as laborers, sat comfortably on the walnut shell, enduring the admiring gazes of the other four... and a little bit of disdain.
After all, this kind of tactic... it's just fortunate that Kane isn't their senior.
The other young wizards stared in shock at the shameless figure on the cow's back and the four pitiful little wizards.
"See? I told you it was a good idea not to go," Ginny whispered, nudging Luna with her shoulder.
"Yes, indeed." Luna nodded.
Soon, as the young wizards and the raft successfully crossed the Black Lake, Kane Walnut jumped down from Walnut's side and, seeing the four young wizards who were exhausted and lying on the raft resting, gave each of them a piece of chocolate.
"Poor little wizard."
After Kane and his three companions returned to the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall, they eagerly awaited the Sorting Ceremony. Actually, the Sorting Ceremony wasn't that important; the most important thing was dinner.
I don't know if it's because we put too many meatballs and tree branches in the lunchbox, but I got hungry faster than usual.
Soon, as Professor McGonagall led the young wizards out of the foyer, they lined up like little quails, looking quite nervous, and entered the Great Hall, where they were scrutinized by all the older students.
Hmm, it's just like what Kane and his team did last year, but I wonder if they had a full-blown brawl in the foyer like they did last year.
The first day of the new semester was so wonderful.
Well... apart from the four unlucky little wizards who were tricked into rowing by Kane and were all assigned to Gryffindor, and who are now glaring at him resentfully while complaining to the other Gryffindor seniors about what Kane did, everything is so wonderful.
I'm sure.
There were other familiar little wizards too. Hmm, Ginny was sorted into Gryffindor. I wonder if there are any Weasleys who aren't Gryffindors.
Also, Luna was sorted into Ravenclaw. It's worth mentioning that when she was wearing the Sorting Hat, Luna didn't want to take off the horned hat, and only reluctantly did so after Professor McGonagall's strong insistence.
From the perspective of others, the second-year villain Kane somehow found a successor to continue his domineering ways in the first year.
And that distinctive horned hat is the evidence.
Darkness was falling in Ravenclaw.
The opening banquet in the Great Hall lasted for more than an hour, and Dumbledore once again made up another opening speech this year, leaving the new year's young wizards to guess.
After the banquet was completely over, Kane broke away from the Gryffindor group and walked towards the headmaster's office alone with a melon.
dong dong dong.
"Dumbledore, I'm coming in." Kane knocked on the door of the headmaster's office and said this before going in, as if he was just knocking to remind Dumbledore that he was coming in and that he should quickly put away any shady things that he didn't want Dumbledore to see.
However, it turned out that Dumbledore wasn't up to anything shady; he was simply making milk tea.
"Kane, come and have a taste. A warm cup of milk tea like this is so comforting on a night like this." Dumbledore said, pushing the milk tea toward Kane. "After you finish this, we can talk about why you chose to ride a broomstick back to Hogwarts. Although the Ministry of Magic has no record of you being seen by Muggles, I don't think you're that reckless."
"So why is that?" Dumbledore asked quietly.
"When the three of us went to Platform 9¾, the platform was blocked off," Kane said after taking a sip of his milk tea.
"Three?" Dumbledore looked at Kane in surprise.
"The three of us were stopped at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, and Hermione was picked up by us on the train while riding a broomstick."
"What an enviable friendship... Platform Nine and Three-Quarters has never been closed, never. So someone doesn't want you to come to Hogwarts? Who is it?" Dumbledore murmured, frowning.
"I think it should be Harry, after all, my fame can't compare to his," Kane said, raising an eyebrow.
"Did you have it checked at the time?"
"No... because I'd love to ride a broomstick to Hogwarts, it's a whole new experience," Kane said somewhat awkwardly.
"I understand, you're young people." Dumbledore smiled. "I know someone is trying to scheme against you, that's enough. Leave the rest to me. Of course, you might end up solving this yourself, you know, young people always have a bit more luck than old people."
Kane stood up: "So I'll be leaving then?"
"Get a good night's sleep so you can be ready for class tomorrow," Dumbledore nodded with a smile.
Kane left the principal's office with a raised eyebrow; he certainly wanted to get a good night's sleep, until...
the next day...
