Chapter 97 What a fantastic start to the school year! Even getting scolded by Hermione would have been worth the price of admission!
"Wake up, little wizards! I'm taking you to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters!" Mrs. Weasley was frantically banging on an iron plate with a wooden stick, the noise, louder than any other noise, giving Kane and Harry a rather significant shock.
After all, having lived in the Weasley household for so long, they had never experienced Mrs. Weasley's unique wake-up service before.
They quickly got dressed, cast cleansing spells on each other, and carried their luggage downstairs.
Of course, since getting to Platform 9¾ required going to King's Cross Station, to avoid scaring the Muggles, Kane simply had the little pumpkin cling firmly to his back, with its two little pumpkin feet gripping the eye bone like a crossbody backpack.
"Okay, good. Let's go. I recently added an autopilot function to my car. That way, after we drop you off at King's Cross Station, we can Apparate away, and the car will come back on its own." After Mr. Weasley finished speaking, he helped the young wizards put their luggage into the trunk of the car, and then it was Kane's turn.
Mr. Weasley gently patted Little Pumpkin, trying to get him off Kane's back; the trunk was his home, but unfortunately, Little Pumpkin didn't seem to care. He remained firmly attached to Kane's back.
"Ah, okay, anyway, this car is definitely big enough, there's plenty of room for you too."
Mr. Weasley ultimately failed to pull the little pumpkin off Kane's back, so he got into the car and slowly activated its stealth function, causing it to take flight.
Flying cars may not be as fast as flying brooms, but since they don't need to avoid any obstacles along the way, they are still much faster than ordinary cars.
Soon, Mr. Weasley parked the car in a secluded alley, turned off the invisibility function, and then walked with Mrs. Weasley and the children toward King's Cross Station.
Not far from Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, everyone was gathered around Ginny.
Today is Ginny's first day at Hogwarts, and for such a memorable day, her family members must have plenty of screen time.
After a group of people surrounded her and offered various words of encouragement, most of them eventually decided to give the honor of being the first to cross Platform Nine and Three-Quarters to Ginny.
"No." Percy quickly shook his head.
"What's wrong?" Ginny asked, puzzled.
"I think I should go first and wait for you on the other side of the platform. There are a lot of other wizards on Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, and there might be some bad seeds... I mean... I'm not comfortable letting Ginny out of my sight," Percy said somewhat awkwardly.
Kane raised an eyebrow. "Hmm, Percy didn't realize it before, but now he seems like the type to be a good older brother."
"But you can't watch Ginny forever, Percy. Of course, you're a good brother, that's for sure." Mr. Weasley was much more nonchalant.
"Just this once, after I bring Ginny to find Luna, at least they'll have company," Percy said firmly.
"Alright then. You go in first." Mrs. Weasley looked at Ginny, and only after seeing Ginny's agreement did she let Percy walk onto the platform.
"Hmm, this is the first time I've ever thought Percy was pretty cool," Ron said quietly, raising an eyebrow.
"Indeed, to encourage Percy to maintain this older brother image."
"We've decided not to play any more pranks on Percy this month."
"No, no, no, you can't be so impulsive."
"It will be fine in a week."
The Weasley twins nodded and stood behind Ginny.
"Well, what a good bunch of kids. We'll be going now." After saying that, the Weasleys walked to a corner and watched Ginny pass through Platform Nine and Three-Quarters before Apparating away.
Next came the Weasley twins, and then Harry, Harry, and his two friends.
Just like last year, they pushed their luggage and rushed towards the platform, knocking Harry and Ron senseless.
Kane fared slightly better because after seeing Harry and Ron crash into the wall, he quickly used Shadow to make himself brake suddenly.
After all, Harry and Ron had a small cart in front of them, so the cart could cushion their impact if they bumped into the wall.
All his luggage was inside the little pumpkin's belly. If he didn't stop in time, he would really be running into a wall with no cover.
"What's going on?" Kane was puzzled and wanted to use Shadow Probe to find out what was going on at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, but Harry and Ron stopped him.
"What are you doing?" Kane asked, looking at the two men with a puzzled expression.
"Platform 9¾ is closed," Harry said.
"So? Aren't I trying to figure something out right now?" Kane said, raising an eyebrow.
"No, no, no, you didn't understand what Harry meant," Ron said at this moment.
"6
""
Seeing that Kane was still completely bewildered, Harry and Ron finally decided to take a direct approach.
"Don't you think that with Platform Nine and Three-Quarters closed, this presents a good opportunity for us to get to school in other ways?" Harry said.
"Like riding your mantis shrimp!" Ron was even more direct.
"Hey! This isn't the time for jokes!" Kane quickly shook his head and refused.
If it were a stranger, they might have been intimidated by Kane's serious demeanor, but Harry and Ron knew Kane very well. They simply snorted and then stared at him without moving.
Kane saw their serious expressions and almost lost his composure, but not completely; he just managed a stiff, forced smile.
Seeing Kane's arc, Harry and Ron immediately followed suit, also mimicking the arc.
The three of them just looked at each other, and eventually the curves of their lips became more and more abstract and unrestrained.
"Actually, if possible..." Kane finally said quietly, "I've filled up the little pumpkin, so I'll give you two pounds, and you can each buy a luggage bag."
Kane then generously gave Harry and Ron two pounds each.
Soon, in the alley where Mr. Weasley had parked his car, the car was long gone, leaving only Kane and his two companions there to prepare the mantis shrimp.
Two bags were hung on the left and right sides at the very back, and then small pumpkins were used to hold them in place.
Kane rode at the very front, followed by Harry, Ron, and Pipi Shrimp. There were three of them, and there was still room to spare.
"Ready?" Kane slowly raised the head of the mantis shrimp broom, and Harry suddenly realized what was happening.
"Wait a minute, something's not right. We're in a busy city center. Even if the mantis shrimp is fast, it will take a long time for the flying broom to reach the clouds. What if we get spotted?"
Ron quickly realized that this was indeed a very serious problem. Allowing Muggles to see magic was a major crime in the magical world, and in severe cases, it could even be comparable to murder.
Kane, however, remained as calm as a rock: "Don't panic, you two. Do you really think my broom's only special feature is its speed?"
"Otherwise what? Do you think your broom can become invisible?" Ron asked.
"Hmph." Kane curled the corners of his mouth slightly. Suddenly, the huge gem on the broom flashed, and the two of them appeared in mid-air. After a few more flashes, Harry and Ron realized that they had arrived in the clouds.
"Hey buddy? Your broom can teleport?" Harry asked, pressing him for an answer.
"When did I say that this broom can't teleport anymore? Anyway, we're safe now. It's just a few flashes that last less than a second. Even if someone sees it, it'll disappear in the blink of an eye. They'll just think they're seeing things. Don't worry." Kane finished speaking and looked at the Hogwarts Express on the ground, which was already rumbling and emitting white smoke.
"Alright, we should get going. Let's control our speed; maybe we can catch up with Hermione." Kane said, flying slowly through the clouds until the Hogwarts Express left the city area before suddenly accelerating and swooping down.
"Wow, this is so awesome! Even if Hermione yells at me, it's worth the ticket price!"
