Chapter 137 Shy Kushina
Chapter 137 Shy Kushina
A cool night breeze blew, and the streets of Konoha appeared exceptionally tranquil under the moonlight.
Minato Namikaze, carrying Kushina, walked lightly through the village gate.
Perhaps because she was startled, or perhaps because she found a long-lost sense of security in that warm embrace, Kushina actually fell asleep on the way back.
Her head rested against Minato's chest, her breathing even. Her long red hair cascaded down like a waterfall, and a few strands were gently brushed against Minato's cheeks by the wind, tickling him.
Minato looked down at the girl in his arms; the murderous intent in his eyes had long since faded, leaving only overflowing tenderness.
He slowed his pace, trying to keep his body steady, not wanting to disturb this rare peace.
After passing through several familiar streets, the iconic gate of the Senju clan's territory came into view.
"Kushina, wake up."
Minato stopped and called out softly, "We're home."
Kushina stirred groggily, her eyelashes fluttering, like a kitten woken up, reluctantly opening her eyes.
"Hmm... Am I home yet?"
She rubbed her sleepy eyes, still a little groggy, only remembering the warm embrace and the reassuring words, "I'll take you home."
"Yes, we've arrived." Minato nodded with a smile.
However, the next second, when Kushina could finally see her surroundings clearly, her previously confused mind was instantly jolted awake as if doused with a bucket of ice water.
The main gate of the Thousand Hands Clan's territory was brightly lit, as bright as day.
But in front of that gate, there wasn't an empty room; instead, a large group of people were standing there.
At the very front was Mito Uzumaki, sitting in a chair, looking at her with a kind of benevolent yet unsettling gaze.
Standing to the side was Tsunade with her arms crossed and a mischievous grin, and Shizune, who was holding Tonton and secretly laughing.
Next to her was Kana Uzumaki, who, despite being injured, was full of energy and making a face at her.
Beside Kana, Mizuki Uzumaki was looking at her with red eyes.
Even Sakumo Hatake stood to the side with his hands behind his back, and Kakashi Jr. also stood beside him.
Even more outrageous, Fugaku Uchiha was there!
The police sergeant was wearing a crisp uniform, and although he still had a stern face, what was with that faint smile at the corner of his mouth?
At the very edge, Nishikawa Tetsu leaned against a doorpost, holding that thing called a camera in his hand, gesturing with a mischievous grin as he pointed to the viewfinder.
"Snap!"
The flash went off, freezing the moment in time.
"..."
Kushina froze.
She only now realized that she was being held horizontally by Minato, and the way they were in the position looked incredibly intimate.
"ah!!!!"
A high-decibel scream pierced the night sky.
Kushina jumped off Minato's arms as if she had been electrocuted, the movement so violent that it almost made Minato stumble.
Her face instantly turned bright red, the color spreading all the way to the roots of her neck, as vibrant as her hair.
"You, you, all of you... what are you all doing here?!"
Kushina pointed incoherently at the group of people, wishing she could dig a three-bedroom apartment out of her toes and crawl inside.
"Of course, I'm waiting for you, my 'lost' little princess, to come home."
Tsunade stepped forward, reached out and pinched Kushina's burning cheek, teasingly saying, "What? Haven't you had enough of hugging? How about Minato carries you inside again?"
"Tsunade-neechan!" Kushina was mortified and stamped her foot. "Don't you dare make fun of me!"
"How can this be called making fun of someone?"
Nishikawa Tetsu walked over, waved the photo in his hand, and said in a serious tone, "This is to record a historic moment. I've already thought of the title—'Golden Flash bravely saves the red-haired witch, and the hero saves the beauty and they become a couple.' I'll give you two front pages when the time comes."
"If you dare post this, I'll kill you!" Kushina threatened, brandishing her fist.
Just then, a red figure rushed over.
"Kushina-neechan!"
Mizuki Uzumaki hugged Kushina tightly, her voice trembling with tears. Her eyes were swollen and red, clearly from crying for a long time.
"Thank goodness... I'm so glad you're alright..."
Mizuki sobbed as she checked Kushina up and down to see if she was injured.
She had already broken down in tears when she saw Kana being rescued, and now that Kushina had also returned safely, her tense nerves finally snapped.
"If...if something happens to you too..."
"Oh dear, Mizuki, don't cry."
Seeing Mizuki crying her eyes out, Kushina's earlier shyness faded somewhat, and she quickly comforted her, gently patting Mizuki's back.
"I'm perfectly fine, aren't I? Look, I didn't even get a scratch!"
"Minato, thanks to you this time."
Mito Uzumaki looked at Minato Namikaze with eyes full of admiration and approval.
"You flatter me, Lord Mito." Minato bowed humbly. "It's what I should do."
The old man nodded; this child was someone he could entrust with his care.
"Alright, everyone, stop standing here."
Mito Uzumaki's tone exuded an undeniable authority.
She stood up and slowly walked forward, her gaze sweeping over the three red-haired girls, Kushina, Kana, and Mizuki, the kindness in her eyes gradually turning into a cold anger.
"This matter won't be so easily resolved."
The veins on the back of Mito's hand, which was gripping his cane, bulged out.
"How dare the Hidden Cloud Village attack the Uzumaki clan right under my nose? Do they really think the Senju clan doesn't exist?"
She looked at Hatake Sakumo and Uchiha Fugaku, and nodded slightly in thanks: "Thanks to you all this time, Sakumo and Fugaku, for making this trip."
"Lord Mito, you flatter me. This is the duty of the police department," Fugaku said solemnly.
"It's my duty," Sakumo replied gently.
"As for Cloud Village..."
Mito's eyes sharpened as she looked toward the Hokage Building.
"Tomorrow morning, I will personally go find that monkey... to talk to Hiruzen. This time, whether it's that so-called delegation or the Raikage behind them, they must give Konoha and me an explanation."
The old man's words were resounding, and the temperature around him seemed to drop several degrees.
Nishikawa Tetsu listened from the side, nodding inwardly.
now it's right.
With the pressure from the First Hokage's wife, plus the "living witness" in the hands of the police department, this matter will definitely not be over until the Hidden Cloud Village suffers a heavy blow.
"It's too late today, everyone should go home and rest."
Mito toned down her imposing manner and reverted to being the kind old lady she always was.
"I'll treat everyone to a meal another day to properly thank you all."
"Yay, there's something delicious!" Kana cheered first, as if the fright she had just experienced had been forgotten.
Kakashi rolled his eyes silently and muttered under his breath, "All he does is eat."
"What did you say? Little white hair!" Chanel's ears were very sharp.
"..." Kakashi chose to shut up and hid behind Sakumo.
"Alright, everyone, that's enough!"
Tsunade waved her hand and began to shoo people away.
"Everyone go home, especially those two busy police officers who still have shifts to do; don't get in the way!"
Fugaku straightened his collar, nodded to the crowd, turned and left, his back still aloof.
Nishikawa Tetsu winked at Minato, made a "good luck" gesture, and then left as well.
Sakumo took Kakashi's leave, while Mizuki, holding Kana's hand, was led back into the house by Tsunade, who kept turning back to look at her.
At the main gate, only Minato and Kushina remained.
"that……"
Kushina clutched the hem of her clothes, looked down at her toes, and spoke in a voice so soft it was like a mosquito's hum.
"Thank you for tonight."
"Hmm." Minato smiled, the moonlight shining on his face, his azure eyes sparkling.
Get some rest, see you tomorrow.
"See you tomorrow!"
After Kushina finished speaking, she turned around and ran into the gate like a rabbit, but stopped after a few steps and looked back.
Minato was still standing there, smiling and waving at her.
Kushina felt her heart skip a beat again, and quickly covered her face as she rushed into the house.
Outside the door, Minato stared at the closed gate, a smile lingering on his lips.
"Thankfully, it was found..."
He muttered something under his breath, then turned and headed home.
The moonlight is beautiful tonight.
