Chapter 155 Preparing for the Start of School
Chapter 155 Preparing for the Start of School
First, a group of people went to the dessert shop to find Cedric and Oliver, and then they walked together to the flying broomstick shop, chatting and laughing.
We all went in, and when we came out, Fred and George each had a Nimbus 2000 broomstick in their left and right hands respectively. I stood between them, and both of them seemed to be protecting me.
Oliver was even funnier, holding the Nimbus 2000 and laughing so hard his eyes disappeared, he looked like he was laughing so hard he was silly.
Percy was also very happy to receive the Nimbus 2000; it was the happiest gift he had received besides his parents.
Cedric was also very happy, and gently stroked the Nimbus 2000 as if he were caressing a lover.
I even rewarded Ron and Hermione with a Nimbus 2000, and they happily took the brooms.
“Now everyone has one, right? As for Harry, since you already have a broom, I won’t give you one. This is a special gift for you. You can open it when you get back.” I handed Harry a box. Actually, it contained photos of Lily and James’ wedding. I had secretly taken many photos while watching the wedding and kept them in my backpack. I was giving them to Harry this time.
"Okay, thank you." Harry still didn't know what I was giving him; he simply accepted it.
Then a group of people appeared in Diagon Alley that attracted a lot of attention, most of them holding a Nimbus 2000 flying broom.
"Is there anything else you need to buy?" Seeing how excited they were, it seemed they had forgotten that today was for buying school supplies.
“Before you arrived, Oliver and I had already bought pens and notebooks and such,” Cedric said to me, finally snapping out of his daze.
"Then we shouldn't need to buy anything else. I still have some notebooks left from last year, so I don't need to buy any more this year. As for potion ingredients, I'll have the shop send them over. Do you have a list ready? I can have them all sent to Hogwarts." It seemed that only Hermione, Percy, and Cedric weren't completely absorbed in the excitement of flying brooms.
"Then could you please prepare a list for me as well, Senior Ayers?" Hermione handed me her own list of required materials.
“This is my list.” Cedric also gave me a list of the materials I needed.
"I'm fine, it shouldn't be too much." Percy's list was relatively small, after all, their family's income situation wasn't very good.
"Okay." I took the lists they handed me one by one, then reached out and made a few gestures in the air. A small, delicate white owl landed on my finger and put our slips of paper into a small bamboo tube attached to the owl's feet.
By the time I finished, the owl had flown away.
"Is there a way to summon this owl?" Hermione asked me curiously.
“Yes, this is a skill specially trained by our shop. Would you like to learn it?” I smiled at Hermione, who was full of curiosity.
"Really? Can I learn it?" Hermione immediately lost interest in the broom. Being able to learn things she didn't know was what a top student should be focused on.
Seeing how eager Hermione was to learn, I told her the key points and precautions one by one. I never expected that this unintentional teaching of Hermione how to summon an owl would later save the lives of the three little ones in a special situation.
"So you guys don't have anything to buy? Then we're going to disband and go home." Looking at the others who were still grinning foolishly, you could tell they were all eagerly anticipating riding their Nimbus 2000s and flying away.
I didn't want to spoil the fun, so seeing how they were doing, I decided to call it a day and go home.
"Oh, children, why do you all have a flying broomstick? Where did you get it?" When we returned to Flourish and Blotts, Mrs. Weasley was completely bewildered to see that several of her sons were carrying flying broomsticks.
“Oh, this is the reward I promised them for the exam cards,” I replied to Mrs. Weasley with a smile.
"Oh, thank you so much, Ayers. On behalf of the children, I thank you for the gift." Mrs. Weasley had originally intended to have the children return it to me, but I had already said it was a gift for them, and Mrs. Weasley could tell that her children loved it dearly. If she insisted on returning it to me, the children might resent her.
She could only look at me gratefully and thank me.
"Come on, Mrs. Weasley, these are what I promised to give them, no need to thank me." We all headed towards the communal fireplace; we all needed Floo Powder to get back to the Burrow.
This time Harry didn't give the wrong address, and we all returned to the Burrow.
Those who received the flying broom had already opened their doors and flown out.
Those who received their own wands stroked them happily.
Mrs. Weasley hurried into the kitchen to prepare dinner. I checked the time and realized there wasn't much time left, so I went over to help her prepare dinner.
The group was having so much fun that they didn't want to go home, and even Mrs. Weasley couldn't get her son to come down.
"I'm counting down three seconds. If you don't come down by then, I'll suggest to Professor Snape that you add more assignments and papers this semester," I said to Ron, Fred, and George, who were still flying above me, using the 'Loud Voice' spell.
"Three~" I had only said one number when Fred and George both came down, standing there with grins on their faces.
"Two~" Ron, who had been flying crookedly, also landed.
"Put away the broom. After dinner, bring out your holiday homework. I'm going to check it." I bet Fred and George did all their homework haphazardly, and Ron probably just wrote random things to reach the word count.
"No~" Before Fred and George could even speak, Ron broke down on his own.
"Little Ronnie, I seriously suspect you haven't finished your homework yet," George said, looking at his younger brother with schadenfreude.
"Little Ronnie, school's starting soon, aren't you excited?" Fred said with the same schadenfreude.
"Didn't you see Ron's face? He looks like he's about to break apart." I looked at Ron's face, which looked like he was about to break apart.
"It's alright, it'll be back to normal in a bit," Fred said with a smile.
“Yes, Ron is really amazing, his recovery is top-notch,” George joked.
"Let's go, let's go have dinner. Mrs. Weasley has prepared everything." He watched as Fred and George picked up Ron and walked back to the table to sit down.
"Ron, what's wrong with you?" Harry asked curiously when he saw Ron's condition.
"Wait, Senior Ayers needs to check my, Fred's, and George's assignments and papers." Ron felt utterly exhausted.
"Isn't this a good thing? With Senior Ayers looking at the homework, the other teachers won't give it a bad grade." Harry himself thought it was pretty good.
