Chapter 47 Return
Chapter 47 Return
"And then, big brother?" Liu Runyu asked, turning his head to the side.
Suddenly, a rustling sound came from behind them.
Liu Runyu was about to turn around when Su Zixu stopped him, "Don't look back, run towards the light, run, hurry!"
A cold wind blew from behind, along with a woman's whispers.
"Wouldn't it be better to stay and keep us company?"
Goosebumps instantly rose on Liu Runyu's arms, and footsteps followed closely behind him.
He yelled and ran wildly toward the tunnel entrance.
The whistling wind swept across Su Zixu's face, and he felt himself drifting away until a sense of weightlessness descended, and he fell into complete silence.
............
"Brother Zixu, Brother Zixu, wake up! You succeeded, brother! Wake up!"
Su Zixu's consciousness gradually gathered, and he could hear anxious calls, which gradually became clearer as they approached.
He slowly opened his eyes a crack, and a large face was right in front of him.
This instantly brought him to his senses, and he slapped her across the face.
Liu Runyu cried out in pain, but a smile remained on his face.
"You're finally awake, bro. I was just about to give you CPR."
Su Zixu slowly sat up, rubbing his temples, and said, "Don't be disgusting, I don't need that."
"Yes, yes, I already unplugged all the wires for you when I woke up. Brother, let's go quickly. Thank you so much this time."
As Liu Runyu spoke, he stepped forward and helped Su Zixu up. He looked at the gruesome severed wound on Su Zixu's right arm and felt extremely guilty.
"I'm sorry to have troubled you. I came all this way but didn't help at all, and I almost got you involved too." Liu Runyu said, bowing his head and repeatedly apologizing.
"You know that's good. Let's go, come with me to the seventh floor." Su Zixu composed himself and walked towards the elevator.
"Seventh floor? What are you going there for?" Liu Runyu stepped forward to help Su Zixu and asked, puzzled.
"Defuse the bomb."
"Wow, this is my forte!" Liu Runyu's eyes lit up.
Hearing this, Su Zixu turned his head to look at the smug young man and asked, "What's your major?"
"Isn't it impressive that you're a military engineering technology major?" Liu Runyu said with a smug look on his face.
Seven floors.
Su Zixu sat on the ground, leaning against the jar. His injuries were serious, and he had to conserve his energy.
Liu Runyu lay on the ground, half of his body buried in the bottom of the jar, fiddling with the bomb.
After an unknown amount of time, Liu Runyu's exclamation startled Su Zixu, who was dozing off.
"It's done!" Liu Runyu cheered, holding a bomb in each hand.
"Good, let's go now that you're done." Su Zixu rubbed his face, then got up and walked towards the elevator.
Liu Runyu wrapped the bomb in his coat and then quickly followed.
Stepping out of the gate of District Three once again, Su Zixu had Liu Runyu stand in front of him, and the two stepped back.
Whether it was due to his injuries or because he was still half asleep, Su Zixu felt that all of this was somewhat unreal.
When he went in that afternoon, he was still alone.
When he came out, there was another person with him. Looking at Liu Runyu's joyful face, Su Zixu felt a little dazed for a moment.
It wasn't until the two of them left Zone 3 that Su Zixu gradually accepted the fact that he had successfully rescued someone.
The basement level of the prison, inside the bathroom.
Ron and Zeng Xiang, who had just finished their work, looked very down because Su Zixu had not returned to the bathroom at the agreed time, and it was unknown whether he was alive or dead.
The two arrived at the cafeteria with gloomy faces, got their meals, and found a secluded spot to sit down.
However, no one touched their chopsticks, and the atmosphere was very heavy.
A moment later, Old Zeng started eating first.
"Eat up. None of us wanted things to turn out this way. Their deaths don't mean we can't survive. Eat, we still have work to do tonight."
Ron sighed deeply, then chewed his food in silence.
About twenty minutes later, Lao Zeng glanced up at the food counter and froze.
He stared intently in one direction, squinting as he repeatedly checked, before suddenly standing up from his seat.
Ron put down his food and looked in the direction Old Zeng was gazing.
At the dining table, a person almost entirely wrapped in bandages was being supported by a handsome young man. The two staggered towards an empty seat, carrying their plates.
As they walked, a pair of hands pressed down on Liu Runyu's shoulders.
The suddenness of the attack startled him, making his body tremble.
Immediately afterwards, Liu Runyu stiffly turned his neck to look back, but the prison bully he had imagined did not appear.
What appeared was Zeng Xiang's old face, a face covered in snot and tears.
"It's good that you're all alright, Liu Runyu. You've survived such a calamity; you're sure to have good fortune in the future." Old Zeng's voice trembled slightly.
He entered the dream three times, and this was the first time he had seen a teammate willing to save someone else, and even succeed.
In the midst of the crisis, Zeng Xiang witnessed the ugliness of human nature. Everyone only cared about themselves, and those who did not harm others were actually good people in his eyes.
He himself had long since become numb, but the kind side of human nature inevitably moved him.
Looking at Su Zixu, whose body was wrapped in bandages, Old Zeng gasped. He could already sense the danger of this rescue.
After the four sat down, Su Zixu ate while recounting his experiences to Zeng Xiang and Luo En.
After a few more pleasantries, Old Zeng began to talk about his and Ron's plans for the evening.
"Ron and I have already spoken with that junior prison guard. Tonight, Ron and I will make our move after roll call."
"There's a ventilation opening right above our cell, and we've got all the tools," Old Zeng said, patting his pocket as a hint.
"We got two wires. Tonight we'll go through the pipes and then meet up with that young prison guard at the entrance to the exercise yard."
"And then everything went according to the plan we had agreed upon with Lizzie."
"So what do Brother Zixu and I need to do tonight?" Liu Runyu asked.
"The painting Tian Tian gave me is under my bed. If it's discovered that we left, you should open the painting and throw it into the prison, throw it far away."
Tian Tian said not to open the painting easily, something bad might happen. At this point, Zeng Xiang's expression became much more serious.
"You don't need to do anything else. Just rest tonight."
"Understood. You must be careful tonight. If anything unexpected happens, protect yourselves first, and we'll figure something out during the day," Su Zixu instructed.
After the meal, the four returned to their cell, where Liu Runyu carefully took out the bomb.
"So, what are you planning to do with this?" Liu Runyu asked the three of them, puzzled.
"Of course, Quaid should enjoy the good life."
Su Zixu leaned against the bars of the cell door, observing the patrolling prison guards as he answered.
"Tian Tian took on this job. Among our group, besides you, only Tian Tian knows about this kind of thing."
Besides, she's more skilled than you and has more experience; she's the best choice.
Zeng Xiang continued, saying that he was very worried about Liu Runyu.
