Chapter 12 The Swift Rabbit
Chapter 12 The Swift Rabbit
The moment both sides simultaneously eliminated an enemy, John, who was guarding the gate, suddenly grabbed his shield—the scratching sound coming from the ventilation ducts felt like countless tiny needles pricking his nerves, sending chills down his spine.
"He can't be a dwarf, can he?"
He muttered to himself with a self-deprecating smile, and suddenly, without warning, he flipped backward!
He performed several clean backflips in succession, narrowly dodging a rising dragon punch that suddenly shot out from the ground.
"Child's play."
John had barely conceived the thought when he regained his footing and froze, staring incredulously at the attacker.
The iconic blue uniform and distinctive hood—if those weren't enough to prove his identity, then there was the shield bearing a five-pointed star—
It is clearly a symbol that countless soldiers dream of!
"Captain America...Steve Rogers?"
John's voice trembled.
But the thing in front of me only had half a body left, and it was frantically rubbing its remaining arm on the ground, making sticky roars from its throat. It looked completely different from the figure standing tall under the military flag in my memory.
"You should have been a hero!"
The zombie Captain America didn't respond, only let out a more ferocious roar!
This roar shattered the towering image John Walker had of himself, leaving only disappointment and anger!
He knew all too well what kind of shield the other was holding!
That was something that countless people called their faith, and even wanted to put it in a museum for worship!
But now, the indestructible vibranium is covered in dark brown stains and even has a cold luster.
no doubt.
Steve has now desecrated his attire! And even more so, he has desecrated the shield in his hand!!
John raised his hand and pulled the trigger, and bullets poured out, but the zombie Captain America blocked them all with his shield.
This creature can even roll nimbly, moving across the ground with its remaining upper body, like a blue ghost clinging to the ground.
"Damn it!" John threw down his empty gun, his eyes narrowing. "Close combat it is then! Let me see the power of a super soldier!"
The zombie Captain America hurled his shield, but John was prepared. He caught it with a flick of his wrist, using the momentum to spin and swing it back—
The shield slammed into the zombie Captain America's chest with a sharp whistling sound!
"Pfft!"
Half of his body was instantly smashed into a bloody mist, and dark red liquid splattered all over the wall.
John gripped the still-trembling shield, his fingertips tracing the bloodstains on it. The coolness of the vibranium seeped through his palms, making him feel somewhat dazed.
He glanced at the talisman he was clutching tightly in his right hand; the character "牛" (ox) on it was faintly glowing.
Perhaps it was this power that enabled him to do all this.
Suddenly, a teammate's voice came through the headset: "Captain, did you hear that? We're retreating."
"I heard that. How's the situation on your end?"
John listened intently to the thunderous vibrations outside the window; without even looking, he knew a terrifying behemoth was approaching.
"Not good, Captain."
We've dealt with two mutated zombies; they're now in the rooftop passageway.
"Please go to the main control room and find Lily and the others. We'll evacuate to the underground parking garage together. Black Widow has already set up a defensive line there."
Hanlu's voice was panting, clearly indicating that she was also engaged in a fierce battle.
John was somewhat dejected; his plan had fallen apart too quickly, after all, none of his opponents were "human." But he still replied in a low voice, "Okay, I'll be right there."
He hung up the call and turned to leave, but the door suddenly shook violently.
With an unreasonable force, the gate, which was as solid as a city wall, exploded with a deafening roar!
A fierce aura swept over us, and amidst the roar that shattered the silence, countless zombies surged forward like a tide!
run!
John had his back to him, but even without turning around, he could feel the terrifying pressure behind him. Without the slightest hesitation, he turned around and rushed towards the entrance of the passage!
He knew he couldn't linger in such an open area! As he ran, he glanced back and saw a tall, fish-headed monster standing behind the crowd, with two men and women enveloped in golden light beside him.
"Another superpowered zombie?"
John frowned, rushed into the narrow passage, and slammed his fists against the walls on both sides!
He possessed the strength of an ox, making him virtually invincible!
Tens of tons of force, far exceeding that of a super soldier, acted on the concrete walls on the left and right!
The reinforced concrete collapsed, instantly sealing off the only entrance to the hall.
"We can't hold them off for long, we need to find Lily and the others quickly!"
In the hall, Yelena and Steelheart Surrey looked at the Red Guard with a sense of helplessness.
The Red Guard roared at the pool of blood on the ground where John had fought earlier, as if it had lost its most precious treasure: "No—!"
"It was my turn...it was our turn to face off...he should have come for me! How long have we waited for this day!"
He pounded the ground with his fists, creating shallow craters in the concrete.
Yelena kicked him: "Alright, pack your things and leave."
What she cared more about were the golden figures John had seen before turning back as he retreated—she had seen a similar glow on Icarus before, but now…
"Let's go," the Iron Lady urged, not having time to think it over.
John burst in at that moment and yelled at the few people who hadn't yet left, "Hurry up!"
The Red Guardian abruptly looked up, staring blankly at the man holding the vibranium shield in his left hand—
The blood mist on the shield couldn't obscure the blue hue, and coupled with that resolute gaze, it almost made one mistake Captain America for returning.
"I've set up automatic machine guns; they can hold us off for a while."
The Iron Lady was the first to stand up and pat the Red Guard's face, finally bringing him back to his senses.
"It seems we'll have to rely on others for this battle," the Red Guard murmured, his voice filled with disappointment.
Lily picked up her backpack and stuffed all her valuables inside; Yelena immediately checked the area outside the gate; the red guards, who had been ignored, were taken aback and quickly followed.
At the other end of the passage, Katie and Moon Knight were fighting and retreating.
When Lily, having finished packing, arrived at the rooftop passage, she bumped into Hanlu raising her hand towards a group of zombies—
The alloy walls on all sides suddenly squeezed and rotated inward, like a giant meat grinder!
The zombies wrapped inside let out shrill screams and quickly turned into a bloody pulp that oozed out through the cracks, a scene so disgusting it was nauseating.
"Wow!" Kamala exclaimed, her mouth agape in astonishment. This efficiency was terrifying.
"You guys retreat first, I'll cover the rear," Hanlu said without turning her head.
"Okay, hurry up and catch up!"
Without delay, everyone rushed toward the escape stairs.
Han Lulu's move has once again changed their opinion of him. In such a narrow place, Han Lulu is simply invincible!
Hanlu strode forward, rummaging through the reopened metal passage, her gaze finally settling on a mangled corpse—Makali of the Eternal Clan.
He curled the corners of his mouth into a satisfied smile.
[Rabbit: Super speed. Enhanced body.]
