Chapter 53: Master and Disciple in the Dead of Night
Chapter 53: Master and Disciple in the Dead of Night
"Cough cough... cough cough cough..."
In a daze, Luo Qixi slowly opened her eyes. The first thing she noticed was her extremely dry throat, and she coughed violently, wanting to drink some water.
In the darkness, a glass of water was just placed to her lips. She swallowed it in large gulps, and only when she felt the cool water flowing into her throat did she feel slightly better.
She was forced to start thinking about what she had been through... She had come to attend a banquet... but before she could do anything, she encountered the sword king assassin of the Northern God School... and then her teacher saved her; the sword king's weapon was poisoned...
The last thing Luo Qixi heard was her teacher saying that there was poison in her blood...
Is the teacher alright?
Only then did she snap out of her dazed state and look around somewhat blankly.
Then she saw the silver-haired figure sitting next to her.
"Teacher...?"
"Hmm...it seems the poison didn't make you mute."
"Mute...mute?"
"It didn't make you deaf." Catherine's cool voice left Loki looking at her somewhat bewildered.
"It shouldn't affect your eyesight, right? Can you see me?" Catherine waved her hand in front of Loki's eyes.
"Y-yes." Loki suddenly came to her senses and looked at Cinderella, quickly saying, "I...I'm fine."
"Really?" Cinderella raised an eyebrow and said thoughtfully, "It seems your resistance to poison is stronger than I thought."
"That's a terrible poison."
"Hmm..." Before Luo Qixi could say anything, she felt a cold hand touch her face, neck, and hands.
"Teacher...Teacher! What are you doing?!"
"It seems your sense of touch is fine too..." Cidelyn nodded knowingly, then smiled. "Congratulations, you silly student... there are no long-term effects from the poison you received."
"temporary."
"Ah..." Although she didn't know why, Luo Qixi still subconsciously said, "Um... thank you, teacher... and..."
"Teacher, are you alright?" Luo Qixi asked, somewhat embarrassed, pulling the blanket to cover half her face. "You were..."
"That bit of venom isn't enough to harm me," Catherine shrugged. "Even the scorpion venom from the Demon Continent is the same."
"Scorpion... Scorpion venom?!" Luo Qixi's eyes widened upon hearing this. Of course, she knew what it was. It was one of the most terrifying poisons on the Demon Continent. It was said that those poisoned would quickly fall into a coma and then lose their lives within just one hour.
Because it has no color, it is also known as the terrifying poison of death's tears.
Am I still... alive?
"This is the royal palace of the Kingdom of Asura," Sidrin shrugged. "What we have in abundance are all sorts of mages skilled in healing..."
"Of course, I also did a lot of work on it." Although Catherine's tone was normal, Loki still understood what her teacher meant.
"Um... thank you, teacher... you're really amazing."
"I didn't do this to get praise."
Really? But teacher, you don't seem to be very good at healing and detoxification magic, do you? At least in Loki's knowledge, she had never seen her teacher use these spells.
"Loki... as a student, you shouldn't underestimate your teacher." Cinderella, of course, saw through her thoughts; her silly student's eyes could hardly hide anything.
She slightly opened her mouth, revealing her somewhat sharp teeth, and said, "I am a vampire... I can easily suck out any amount of blood."
"Ah...is that so...wait..." Luo Qixi's eyes widened slightly upon hearing this: "Sucking it out means...?"
"Of course, we'll suck out the poisonous blood." Cinderella said, licking her teeth. "You know what... the blood with poison in it actually tastes kind of... unique."
"Ah... thank you so much, teacher." Luo Qixi really didn't know what to say in this situation, so she could only express her gratitude somewhat numbly.
There were so many strange things about this whole thing... but somehow, she felt a little tired.
So Luo Qixi pursed her lips slightly, thought for a moment, and changed the subject: "The Princess and the Crown Princess are not injured, are they?"
"Them?" Cidel raised an eyebrow and thought for a moment: "The First Princess was only slightly frightened and otherwise unharmed."
"And what about that princess…?" Cidelina said expressionlessly, "did she wet her pants in fright? Does that count?"
"I don't think so..."
"Hmm...after all, she's just a cub." Cinderella said as she slowly stood up.
Seeing her movements, Luo Qixi paused for a moment and subconsciously asked, "Teacher, what are you going to do...?"
"Go and call those priests of Milis in." For once, Loki saw disgust on her teacher's face. The teacher frowned, and when she pronounced the word "priests," it was as if she were pronouncing some kind of bug.
"Their stench alone is enough to make anyone nauseous... and yet they carry around holy water like that." Cinderella shook her head, her pointed ears twitching slightly, a rare occurrence for her. "And yet, they're the only ones who truly understand how to detoxify..."
Holy water?
So vampires really hate this? After all, it's a race I've never known before... Loki's understanding of this race comes entirely from her teacher.
Afraid of sunlight... Lives by sucking blood... Sleeps in a coffin... Always active in the dark... Hates holy water... Somewhat aloof... Lacking in emotion... And a bit slow-witted...
No matter how you look at it, vampires don't seem like a kind race at all...
Stop for a moment. I shouldn't be speculating about the teacher with such thoughts...
The teacher saved me again... I don't know if it's because I've been saved so many times, but Luo Qixi is even a little numb... No, no, I should thank the teacher properly.
But how should I thank my teacher?
Words of thanks seem a bit too inadequate, don't they...?
She patted her face, thought for a few seconds, and then, as if remembering something, suddenly blurted out, "Teacher... please wait a moment!"
"Hmm?" Cinderella had just reached the door and was about to open it. Although she disliked those priests a bit, she was still thinking about how to politely let them in for the sake of her stupid student.
Before she could even decide what to do, Luo Qixi called out to her.
"Don't worry, even if I hate them, I won't kill them."
"No, teacher...who would want to talk about something like that..."
No?
Cinderella was a little surprised. She frowned as she looked at the student lying on the bed in the moonlight, with only half of his face showing.
Are you feeling unwell?
"No...no." Luo Qixi's voice trembled slightly, and her face flushed slightly in the moonlight.
Seeing Catherine's confused look, she gently pulled back the covers, revealing her smooth neck.
"Um... teacher... I don't know how to thank you... so please... suck my blood for free?"
"Huh?" Cinderella raised an eyebrow in surprise, then suddenly curled the corners of her mouth slightly.
"Vampire stuff... isn't that a bit too vulgar?" She slowly walked to Luo Qixi's side, then bent down and looked down at Luo Qixi's face.
"I don't remember ever using that word."
"..." Upon hearing this, Luo Qixi blushed even more. As if she had thought of something, she pursed her lips and whispered as softly as a breeze caressing a flower petal, "Then please... please taste it, teacher..."
Before she could finish speaking, Cinderella gently covered her mouth with her index finger.
She looked at Luo Qixi with interest and said, "No need for that today, I'm already full."
With that, she stood up nimbly and left the room before Luo Qixi could react.
"She's awake. Go in and check on her... If anything goes wrong, I'll kill you all."
The teacher's voice rang out from outside the door, but it only made Luo Qixi grit her teeth and glare at the door.
The teacher was definitely doing that on purpose! She always seems so aloof, but she's always so enthusiastic when it comes to playing pranks!
