Chapter 17: Reflection
Chapter 17: Reflection
"Pat...pat..."
Pushing open the door of the Astronomy Tower again, naturally, Luo Qixi didn't see her teacher... In fact, she would have found it strange if her teacher happened to be sitting inside one day.
She nodded gently and carefully entered the room... The astronomical tower's rooms weren't large, but they were divided into several rooms. The first was a living room furnished with study desks and chairs and the teacher's "bed"...
Despite having come many times, Luo Qixi still didn't understand the teacher's intentions... And behind the living room was a tightly closed wooden door, and Luo Qixi never really knew what was behind that door.
That really makes me curious.
As if possessed, Luo Qixi walked to the doorway, her hand lightly resting on the door frame, unconsciously applying some force.
"Squeak."
Surprisingly, the door wasn't closed; it was pushed open with just a slight effort from Luo Qixi.
Oh dear...
Luo Qixi quickly withdrew her hand, after all, it was very impolite to touch things randomly in someone else's room...
But through the crack in the door, Lokishi vaguely saw something magical... It was a series of parchments hanging on the wall, covered with all sorts of magic circles...
However, Luo Qixi couldn't figure out what it was related to...
"Clatter".
"Ugh!" The sound of the door closing startled Loki, who quickly looked away. What came into view was Cinderella slowly walking into the room, looking at Loki with a cold expression.
Good evening, Luo Qixi.
"Good evening... good evening, teacher!" Luo Qixi pursed her lips awkwardly and explained softly, "I'm sorry, teacher, I couldn't help it... I accidentally glanced at something in the room..."
"It's alright." Catherine shrugged gently, then said in a nonchalant tone, "It's just that most of the people who saw what was inside that door are dead."
"Wh...what?!"
"Just kidding." Cinderella's expressionless words made Loki's lips twitch slightly.
This doesn't look like a joke at all, teacher... or rather, what kind of joke looks like this!
"Alright, please sit down." Cidelyn didn't pay attention to Loki's expression. She nodded gently and slowly sat down. "After a day of rest... we have quite a bit to talk about."
Upon hearing this, Luo Qixi pursed her lips and then carefully sat down opposite Xidelin.
"First, let's talk about the adventure," Catherine said after thinking for a moment. "What did you gain from this adventure?"
"Hmm..." Loki thought that the teacher would definitely ask some questions, so she did some research in her mind. Then she nodded slightly and said, "I understand that the application of magic... is more flexible."
"Hmm." Catherine nodded noncommittally. "That's what I told you."
"And then there's... teamwork is also very important..."
"This is indeed related to adventure...but what about magic?" Cidlin asked slowly.
"Magic..." Loki paused, then pondered for a few seconds, desperately searching for an answer in her mind. Finally, she said in a somewhat uncertain tone, "If only... if only I could use magic faster."
It was a close call. If I hadn't known that the teacher was there, would I have been able to stay so calm and watch the bear king rush so close to me?
Luo Qixi felt it might be difficult...
"That's a very good answer." Hearing this, Cinderella nodded in satisfaction.
"That's right... You're already a high-level mage, and among Lanoa's students, you're considered one of the stronger ones," Cidel said expressionlessly. "But even so, you still end up in a very difficult situation when facing enemies."
"This is the result of chanting the incantation," Sidrin said, pausing for a moment. "Today I'm going to teach you how to shorten the chanting."
"Shorten... chanting?" Upon hearing this, Loki immediately bit her lip excitedly. She would make this expression whenever she heard interesting or valuable magical knowledge.
I have to say... it looks kind of appetizing... it's like the food is showing off how delicious it is...
Sidlin swallowed slightly before saying, "Shortened chanting is a technique between chanting and no chanting."
"By learning to shorten the chanting, we can compress long spells to achieve faster casting..." Sidrin said, raising her right hand and then chanting a spell at an extremely short speed.
The result was that a water ball appeared in her hand, much faster than the long incantation that Loki had to chant.
"This is shortened chanting." Under Loki's earnest gaze, Cinderella slowly said, "Shortened chanting doesn't require innate practice... and it's not too late to start training now."
"Or rather... the timing is perfect." Cinderella said, slowly taking a notebook out of her bosom and placing it on the table.
"This notebook contains abbreviated spells for all water magic spells, from beginner to advanced levels."
"!" Luo Qixi's attitude towards the tattered notebook immediately changed to that of someone looking at some peerless divine weapon.
"Starting today... in addition to practicing magic... you must also begin practicing shortening your spellcasting," Catherine said calmly. "I need you to be able to shorten all your spells to within three seconds by the middle of next year."
"The middle of next year?" Luo Qixi quickly calculated the days. It was already the end of the year of Jialong Calendar 402... If it was the middle of the year that the teacher mentioned, then it would be June of Jialong Calendar 403.
So, it's just over six months... more than six months? Upon hearing this, Luo Qixi nodded seriously. She didn't feel any difficulty; on the contrary, she felt... it was a good challenge.
Seeing her serious expression, Cidlin nodded gently: "Shortening the incantation is very important for mages..."
"And then next year in the middle... I've prepared an exam for you."
"An exam...?"
"Yes." Cidelyn nodded. "Let's work hard for the exam... and this exam is different from the previous adventurer commissions."
"I won't follow you."
"In other words," Catherine said, shrugging, "it would be a shame if you died."
"Teacher, please don't say such unlucky things..." Luo Qixi slightly clenched her sleeves and then mustered her courage to say, "Then... what if I pass the exam?"
"If you pass the test..." Sidlin paused, then counted on her fingers and said, "If you pass the test... I'll teach you blood magic."
"Blood...magic?"
"This is a unique magic that only I know in the whole world," Sidrin said, a slight smile playing on her lips.
Why does it seem like it has a rather evil look to it?
"Oh, right," Cicelyn said, as if remembering something, "New Year's Eve is just around the corner, isn't it?"
"Yes, teacher."
"You don't need to come that day... I remember there should be an event at school, right?" Catherine said, shrugging.
"Then teacher..." Luo Qixi subconsciously wanted to ask the teacher what she needed to do, but... in the end she didn't muster the courage to speak.
Perhaps the teacher has more important things to study?
It's best not to bother the teacher.
