When he pretended to fall, he had already activated the ability he copied from the Hydra sonar soldier.
[Ability: Sonar Sensing]
The 3D image in my mind showed that there was indeed a platform of about 20 square meters 53 meters below, and behind it was a cave more than 10 meters deep.
This performance was all for the purpose of sending out intelligence.
Steve stared into Chu Hang's eyes, which were filled with pure ecstasy.
He chooses to believe.
"Everyone! Get the ropes out! Quickly!" He yelled, snapping the stunned team members out of their daze.
"Falsworth, join the rope! Make sure every knot is secure!"
"Logan! Use your claws to dig a hole in the ground and secure it!"
"Dugan, Jones, alert! Open fire as soon as the enemy enters firing range!"
The command was given, and the deathly aura in everyone's eyes was replaced by the flames of survival.
Soon, a long rope made of several military ropes was firmly secured in the deep pit that Logan had dug.
"Wang! Wang Wang Wang!"
The woods were filled with the barking of dogs, and dozens of beams of flashlight swept across the area.
"They're here!" Jones screamed.
"Attack!" Steve roared.
"Ta-ta-ta-ta!"
Dugan and his men opened fire, a hail of bullets felling the first few Hydra soldiers and hounds. But more enemies surged out, blue energy beams sending rock fragments flying.
"The wounded go down first!" Steve grabbed a wounded soldier and tied the rope tightly around him. "Hold on tight!"
He glanced at Falsworth, who immediately began releasing the player along with another teammate.
"Chu! You're second!" Steve turned and grabbed Chu Hang.
"Captain, I'll cover the rear..."
"Shut up! That's an order!" Steve roared. "You're more important than me now! Get down!"
He roughly tied the rope around Chu Hang's body.
Suspended by ropes, Chu Hang began his first cliff rappelling.
A beam of energy grazed his ear, and his cheek stung.
He cursed inwardly, then activated his mental power, creating an invisible spatial barrier around himself.
[Ability: Spatial Barrier (Prototype)]
This was a method he devised after replicating the leaked energy from the Cosmic Cube, which consumed a huge amount of mental energy.
Then, something strange happened.
Several bullets hit him, but bounced off as if they had hit a wall.
To Falsworth and others who were placing the rope above, this "lucky star" from the East was incredibly fortunate.
Only Chu Hang himself knew that he was almost at his breaking point from performing this role.
"Damn it, being an actor is exhausting," he cursed inwardly.
Fifty meters or so was covered in the blink of an eye.
With a thud, Chu Hang landed on his feet. He untied the rope and waved upwards.
Upon seeing the signal, the people above were greatly encouraged and sped up.
One by one, the team members slid down the slope.
Steve was the last to land, and he pulled out his dagger and cut the rope.
The sound of Hydra's furious shouts and gunshots came from overhead.
"Quick! Get into the cave!" Steve yelled, and crawled into the cave behind the platform.
Everyone filed in.
The cave shielded them from the wind, snow, and enemy sight. The group collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath.
They survived.
All eyes were on Chu Hang, who was sitting in the corner with his eyes closed and his face pale.
“This kid…was he sent by God?” Dugan said, panting.
“His luck doesn’t seem real,” Farsworth chimed in.
Logan didn't speak, but only glanced at Chu Hang. This man had a secret, but no ill intentions.
From discovering the ambush, to finding this shelter, to the good fortune during the descent...
This kid is definitely more than just lucky.
That night became a legend for the Roaring Commando.
In the following months, they became Hydra's nightmare.
He bombed railways in France, destroyed V2 rocket factories in Germany, and cooperated with resistance organizations in Poland to rescue people from concentration camps.
The name of the Howling Commandos became a beacon of hope in Allied battle reports. Within Hydra, they were known as the "Ghost Force."
And Chu Hang is no longer a mascot.
Before each operation, Steve would have Chu Hang "listen" to the map to find the most accurate and safest route for the raid.
When infiltrating behind enemy lines, his "intuition" always enabled his team to avoid all patrols and sentries.
On one occasion, he "misremembered" the time, which ironically saved the entire team from a trap.
Chu Hang himself was also busy.
He drank with Dugan and casually copied the man's gun maintenance skills. Watching Forsworth modify bombs, he also discovered a talent for "explosives affinity." He also learned French, stealth, and even accidentally copied the recipe for German sausages from a Hydra chef.
His skill set is quietly expanding.
Steve has already taken him as a strategic advisor.
Logan sees him as one of his own, a deeply hidden kindred spirit, but the danger is directed at the enemy.
Early spring of 1945, London, UK headquarters of the Strategic Scientific Corps (SSR).
Colonel Phillips and Peggy Carter interrupted the Howling Commandos' vacation.
“Gentlemen,” Colonel Phillips said coldly, “the holiday is over.”
Carter slammed a confidential document and a roll of film onto the table.
“We intercepted Hydra intelligence. Red Skull has launched his final plan—'Valkyrie'.”
The projector was turned on, and a design drawing of a huge black aircraft appeared on the wall.
"A super bomber with a wingspan exceeding two hundred meters will carry bombs powered by the energy of the Cosmic Cube. Its target..."
The scene changes, and a map of the East Coast of the United States appears, with cities such as New York, Boston, and Washington marked in red.
"...is in the United States."
The operations room was deathly silent.
“Our mission,” Colonel Phillips said, “is to find Red Skull’s final base and destroy Valkyrie before he takes off.”
Steve stepped forward and picked up the file.
"We accept the mission."
Chu Hang stood at the back of the crowd, looking at the "Valkyrie" on the wall and the location of Hydra's final base on the map.
His heart began to race.
The Cosmic Cube he had been dreaming of was right there.
As long as one can replicate even a trace of its energy, the spatial power within one's body will undergo a qualitative change. At that point, not only will spatial barriers be possible, but short-distance teleportation might even be feasible.
Saving America and destroying Hydra are just side effects.
That's the real goal.
"Fortune favors the bold..." Chu Hang licked his dry lips.
"Red Skull, my good brother, you must keep my 'package' safe."
Chapter 51 The Last Wine
The operations room was stuffy, filled with the smell of smoke and sweat, making it choking.
Chu Hang leaned against the corner of the wall, looking at the members of the Roaring Commando Team, each of them with a worried expression.
He knows why.
On the wall hung a design drawing of a black aircraft labeled "Valkyrie." Next to it was a world map, with New York, Washington, and Chicago marked in red circles.
Red Skull's plan.
“So, boss,” the bearded Dugan’s voice was hoarse, “the mission is to sneak into the Alps, find that madman’s lair, and blow this thing and the base to smithereens?”
Everyone was looking at Peggy Carter.
“That’s one way to put it,” Carter said calmly.
"How do we get in?" Explosives expert Farsworth rubbed his hands together. "Parachute? The air defenses will be heavy. Ground infiltration? We don't even have a map."
Carter only said two words.
No one spoke in the operations room.
“We only have a vague coordinate range,” she added. “We know nothing about the internal structure, defensive deployments, or troop strength. All we know is that it is Hydra’s most heavily fortified core fortress.”
"To die." From the corner, Logan retracted his bone claws and coldly uttered two words.
A man walked in, carrying a wine glass. He wore a three-piece suit and had a small mustache. Howard Stark.
