Chapter 3 Auction 1
Chapter 3 Auction 1
"Hehe~, I caught another fish! This fish is huge! Uncle Li, come help me!"
"Uncle George, I caught a fish too!"
Vega and George, who were standing in the flybridge preparation area making lunch with blank expressions, ignored the voices coming from the two little girls at the bow of the ship.
Despite Vega's attempts to cover it up, Gwen and Bana still saw the video.
Completely humiliated, Vega, in order to prevent himself from jumping into the sea out of shame, failed to explain himself by claiming that he couldn't bear to kill, and directly exposed George for buying fish at the seafood market and pretending that he had caught them.
Then, after being teased by the two children, they both became withdrawn...
George cut the beef, muttering angrily, "Damn it, you lost face all by yourself, why did you have to drag me into it! Now my serious father image is completely ruined!"
Vega: "Hmph, I'm doing this for your own good, don't be ungrateful!"
George was so angry he laughed. He questioned, "Is exposing my flaws in front of my daughter for my own good?"
“Of course,” Vega put down his knife, turned to look at George, “think about it, how long has it been since Gwen was this happy with you?”
George remained silent, and Vega continued, "A serious image is for outsiders and subordinates. Showing it to your daughter will only alienate her."
"No one is perfect. Showing your flaws to friends and family can help you get along better."
"Just you wait, after Gwen finds out about this embarrassing thing, she'll be even closer to you."
George: "Really?"
George was somewhat uneasy. His wife had passed away when their daughter Gwen was very young, and he was too busy with work to spend much time with her. As she grew older, he worried that she would be influenced by societal trends and go astray, so he could only educate her with the same serious attitude he used with his subordinates at the police station.
This method worked very well, and his daughter was raised to be excellent, but their relationship also became very strained.
Vega: "Of course it's true. When I'm with Bana, I'm very relaxed as long as I'm not studying."
"Do you really think she doesn't know where the fish I brought back came from? She knows perfectly well, and she knows all my other flaws too."
"Is Bana disrespecting me? No, right? You can't go wrong by listening to me."
"Gwen is 16 years old this year. Children at this age are the most sensitive. You can no longer use that commanding style of education, as it will make the child rebellious."
"As a police officer, haven't you ever encountered rebellious teenagers who run away from home or commit crimes due to disagreements with their parents?"
"Think it over carefully. Don't wait until it's too late to regret it when things are beyond repair."
Seeing George deep in thought, Vega smiled smugly.
With a simple maneuver, George won't blame himself this time; in fact, he'll thank us!
After lunch, Vega and George left the flybridge area for the two children to sunbathe while they went to the helm on the main deck.
"Ding-dong."
Coulson, who was busy at the New York branch of S.H.I.E.L.D. reducing the video's popularity, lowering its resolution, and guiding public opinion, laughed after reading the brief message.
Five minutes later, Vega, having received a reply, sailed his yacht to the coordinates in the text message, where there was a large school of cod.
He'd better save face if he could; he refused to believe that he couldn't catch fish while guarding the school of fish!
At 5 p.m., the yacht returned to the dock. Vega and George, covered in cod, walked off the yacht with their fishing boxes and gear, heads held high.
Gwen and Bana followed behind the two. Bana, who was used to it, still had a stern face, while Gwen, who had never seen her father like this before, found it very novel and interesting.
"Wow, you caught so many fish! That's amazing!" Monica, who was greeting you at the dock, praised you with a slightly exaggerated tone, but she covered her mouth and laughed as soon as she finished praising you.
"What's so funny?" Vega rolled his eyes at Monica. Because of the upcoming auction, the dock and the area around the hotel were temporarily blocked off, which made him very unhappy because he wanted to show off but couldn't find an audience.
Vega: "That's all for today, George. Please look after Bana. I'll pick her up tomorrow night."
Bana and Gwen needed to finish their weekend homework together, and the school was organizing a visit to the science museum tomorrow. In addition, Vega would be busy later, so the group decided on the ship that Bana would stay at George's house for the night.
George: "Don't worry, I'll take good care of her."
After seeing George and the other two off, Vega and Monica returned to the hotel. Upon learning that everyone had arrived, Vega, covered in fish, started the auction ahead of schedule, ignoring Monica's advice.
The auction was held on the top floor of the hotel, and only 42 people participated.
Don't be fooled by the small number of people; most of them represent a country, while a small portion represent large, influential families with long histories, immense wealth, and global reach.
The guests arrived in the conference room in twos and threes. Vega, covered in cod, looked comical, but no one laughed at him or showed disdain. Instead, they greeted Vega warmly and praised his superb fishing skills.
Even though he knew these people were just putting on an act, Vega still enjoyed it.
Once everyone was seated and the auction software was installed on the laptop, Vega raised his left hand and drew a circle in the air. A deep purple spatial passage appeared there and quickly expanded to a diameter of one meter.
Vega reached into the passage and took out five boxes in succession. He then took off the cod hanging on his body and threw them into the spatial passage before closing it.
Vega looked at everyone and said, "As you all probably know, the auction will be suspended for a while due to personal reasons, and I'm not sure when it will resume."
I've deliberately increased the number of items for today's auction, and I've also found two truly excellent pieces; I'm sure you'll like them.
"The auction begins." Vega announced, then went straight to take a shower. Monica posted the pre-edited auction item information through the auction software backend and also went out.
Five boxes were placed on the auction stage without any protection. The 42 guests participating in the auction glanced at the boxes with burning eyes, and then lowered their heads to operate their laptops.
No one dared to touch these boxes. The last person who did so, along with his faction, immigrated to the beautiful hell with everyone's enthusiastic help.
