Chapter 277 Bennu Bird
Chapter 277 Bennu Bird
Chapter 278 Bennu Bird
Upstairs in his room, Bill Weasley looked at the two men before him, feeling a strange and inexplicable sense of wonder.
Once he got here, he was certain that Siron hadn't lied and was indeed a Hogwarts student.
Because those who can live here must have faced the test of the scales of truth, a precious magical artifact left by ancient Egyptian sorcerers. The left side of the scales represents lies, and the right side represents evil intentions. Once either of these two situations occurs, the corresponding side of the scales will become unbalanced.
The managers of those magical markets would certainly not allow someone who deliberately lies or has ulterior motives to live in the Scarab Bar.
So these two people are definitely fine.
Especially after learning that Remus Lupin was actually last year's Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, he completely let down his guard and instantly became enthusiastic.
"Why do I feel like you're acting a little different than before?"
"It's too much of a coincidence that Ron's classmate suddenly appeared at this time. I have to check it out," Bill said. "Don't mind me, if you've ever worked with fairies, you'd probably be even more cautious than me. Those guys are hardly friendly."
"And now?" Xilun asked.
"I think I'm overthinking it; you guys are definitely not bad people."
Why?
"It's mainly because of him, that Mr. Remus Lupin." Bill pointed at Lupin.
"He was the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor last year, but he wasn't in St. Mungo's or imprisoned in Azkaban. I don't think there's any better proof than that."
Lupin chuckled somewhat awkwardly, seemingly surprised that his identity would be of such use.
However, Celen nodded in deep agreement, feeling that Bill's words were absolutely right.
The position of Defense Against the Dark Arts professor seems to possess a special magic. No matter how well a wizard with ulterior motives hides them beforehand, once he stands on the podium and begins teaching, he will inevitably be exposed before the end of the school year.
Only a genuinely good person like Lu Ping could possibly retire unscathed from that position.
In a sense, Lupin's former title as a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor was even more prestigious than the Order of Merlin's First Class Order of the Dark Arts.
"So, you're in Egypt for tourism?" Bill asked. "If so, don't miss the pyramids. There you can see special magic left by ancient Egyptian sorcerers, something you can't see in England."
"You could call it a trip," Siron said, "but strictly speaking, I'm here to learn different wand-making methods."
"A magic wand?" Bill raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"I forgot to introduce myself—" Siren said, "My name is Siren, Siren Ollivander."
"Oh, so you're that Celen!" Bill blurted out.
"Do you know me?" Siren asked.
"I don't know you, but I've heard of you." Bill glanced at Celen again. "My mother wrote to me before that you stood up for us at Flourish and Blotts."
"Ron also mentioned you in his letter, saying that his new wand was your creation and that he liked it very much."
"Fred and George, needless to say, when they were in Egypt last year, the names they mentioned most were you and Lee Jordan. I remember they even secretly got a piece of mummy bandage, I think it was a gift for you."
The mummy's bandages were something Siron vividly remembered; he was quite startled when Fred and George pulled those things out of Diagon Alley.
"You knew all that?"
"They thought I didn't know," Bill said. "The mummy I took them to see was just a fine replica, a fairy's masterpiece—and it turns out I was right."
"No wonder," Xilun realized.
No wonder they could run around with the mummy's bandages without getting hurt; it turned out it was a fake.
Bill smiled and nodded, feeling even more amazed that he had unexpectedly run into an acquaintance this time.
Not counting Fred and George, he had seen Celen's name several times in his family's letters, so he must be an acquaintance.
"So you came here this time just to study the wand?"
"That's right, and it's almost done." Siren took out the wand he had bought. "To be honest, the harvest on this trip was smaller than I expected. The only thing that was somewhat special was the external wand core technology, which probably isn't that popular in Britain."
After listening to Celen's words, Bill pondered for a moment and then suddenly said, "I think you might be looking in the wrong direction."
"What?"
"The Egyptian wand is really nothing special, there's nothing worth learning from it," Bill said. "You'd be better off looking at Gregorovich."
“That’s what I thought too,” Celen said, “but my grandfather thought I should come here first.”
"Looks like I was right, you might really be looking in the wrong direction." Bill touched the pointed earring.
"Mr. Ollivander may not be referring to a wand, but something else, well—something related to wands."
"What is it?"
"I don't know." Bill shrugged. "I'm just proposing a hypothesis, but you'll have to figure out what it is for you to decide, since I don't know anything about wands."
"Or you could write to Mr. Ollivander and ask him."
"I'd like to," Xiren sighed, "but they won't let us go out now, let alone send letters."
"That's true."
"By the way, Bill," Celen asked, "you mentioned this timeframe earlier—so what exactly happened? Gringotts was really robbed?"
"That's true," Bill said.
"What is it?" Xilun asked curiously, then quickly added, "It's okay if you can't answer, I'm just curious."
"It's nothing inconvenient," Bill said in a low voice. "Gringotts lost a key."
"The vault key?"
"If it were just a vault key, why go to all this trouble?" Bill said. "It was found at the very bottom of the pyramid."
It is said that the eye of a Bennu bird is hidden inside.
"Horus the Eagle?" Siron asked blankly. "What's that?"
"A magical creature that exists only in legends."
The speaker was Lupin, who seemed quite knowledgeable about the subject. "It's a magical creature resembling a heron that feeds on basilisks."
At this point, Lupin paused subconsciously.
It seems that a basilisk appeared at Hogwarts last year, and it is the only basilisk that has survived for centuries.
"The eyes of the basilisk are cursed, as are those of the Bennu bird, a magical creature seen as the embodiment of the sun, symbolizing resurrection and eternity."
Lupin composed himself and continued, "Legend has it that the Resurrection Stone, one of the Deathly Hallows, was made by ancient alchemists using the eye of the Bennu bird."
