Chapter 62 Bruce Wayne Makes a Grand Entrance
Chapter 62 Bruce Wayne Makes a Grand Entrance
Several cars followed behind the truck, with the lead one looking particularly luxurious; its price seemed to be several zeros higher than the others.
The car was parked in an open space not far from Zheng En and the others. The person in the back seat opened the door and got out, standing to the side and bending down to greet the people in the car.
The man was wearing a pair of gleaming pointed leather shoes and a well-tailored, exquisitely made suit. His sapphire blue tie was loosely tied at the chest, and half of it fluttered up as he got out of the car.
When Zheng En looked over, her eyes met his. The other man's eyes lit up, and Zheng En immediately had a bad feeling.
Oh no, this bat is a trap!
The person who stepped out of the car was none other than Bruce Wayne, who had removed his Batman mask. He walked towards Zheng En with great enthusiasm, his steps light and his expression cheerful. "Are you here for charity work too?"
Jung Eun, who was handing out bread to the homeless, said, "...Yeah."
Jason, who was standing to the side, looked at Bruce with a look that seemed to think he was an idiot. Seeing that Zheng En was being pestered and talked to by the other party, he took over Zheng En's task and then handed out bread to the people in line.
With Jason's help, Zheng En could focus on dealing with Bruce. The fact that Bruce had specifically chosen this time to come clearly indicated that it wasn't just for charitable relief. The Wayne Enterprises wouldn't need a young master like himself to get involved; politicians and wealthy businessmen usually need a stage to put on a show.
Bruce arrived with his men and truck, looking more like a rich second-generation heir with a sudden whim and a reckless attitude.
Zheng En didn't know the other party's purpose in coming here, but he knew that Batman was a good person.
He didn't stand on ceremony, asking, "How much food did you bring? I've almost run out here, but there are still many people who haven't received theirs."
"That's not a problem."
Bruce snapped his fingers, looking quite smug. Perhaps the bonus was generous enough, as the driver was happy to please the young master.
The truck's cargo door opened automatically with a snap of the fingers, revealing boxes packed full of goods inside.
It was literally packed full; boxes were piled from the bottom to the roof of the vehicle, with hardly any space between them.
Even though she had prepared herself mentally, Jung Eun was still shocked by Bruce's arrogance.
With so much stuff, even if there were two more lines, there would still be enough to take home, let alone the people currently in line.
"Then I'll leave it to you..."
Zheng En's daily tasks don't have many requirements; he just needs to complete them once. He buys a lot of things because he hopes that more people can survive.
Now that Bruce had brought so much stuff, he breathed a sigh of relief, but at the same time, he wanted to make a quick getaway.
The bats are silent; they must be up to no good.
When Zheng En ran into Bruce on the day of the trial, he knew things were going to get really bad. This local rookie, Bruce, was only a newcomer, but his control freak nature was already beginning to show.
Before he had even met the other party, he found about a dozen listening devices in the room.
Then they ran into each other again at such a crucial point as the court hearing. Wouldn't the other party go back and thoroughly investigate his background?
Zheng En was fully prepared, so he was not afraid even if a bat-like monster randomly appeared in some corner of his house one night.
But nothing happened after that.
The other party remained silent for about ten days, and Zheng En thought the matter was over.
As it turned out, he was still too naive and foolish.
Bruce Wayne makes his grand entrance!
The other party did not give him a chance to escape.
Before Zheng En could finish speaking, Bruce realized he was trying to slip away. He immediately grabbed Zheng En's hand, feigning ignorance, and asked, "Do you often come here for charity work?"
"It's alright, it doesn't happen very often."
Zheng En was unclear about the other party's specific purpose, and his words were vague, leaving himself plenty of room to maneuver.
He carefully observed Bruce's expression. The other man didn't reveal the slightest flaw, as if the identity of Batman had never existed in him, and he was just an ignorant rich kid who had never experienced the harsh realities of life.
"You are such an honest, kind, and good-hearted person."
Bruce eagerly grasped Zheng En's hand and shook it up and down twice. "Are you interested in working at the foundation? I just fired a few corrupt officials a few days ago, which opened up quite a few positions."
Zheng En never expected that she would run into Boss Zhipin in Gotham.
Since this was a job offered by Batman, he wasn't keen on being stripped naked, so Jung Eun hesitated for a moment, "But I've never done this kind of work before..."
Before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by the man following closely behind Bruce.
"Yes, Mr. Bruce, I know you're utterly disappointed with those pests, but Wayne Enterprises isn't a place just anyone can walk into."
The man had opened the car door for Bruce and then followed him respectfully until Bruce expressed his intention to recruit Zheng En, at which point he opened his mouth aggressively.
"You should be more cautious. You can't judge someone as a good person just because of some of the things they've done."
He tried to persuade Bruce with earnest words, occasionally glancing at Jung Eun with hostility in his eyes.
But most of the time, he would avoid looking in Jung Eun's direction, "and even if he is a good person, he may not be capable of handling the work in his position."
"The work of charitable organizations is not just about standing around handing out bread. We also need to communicate with churches and various high-society figures, organize charitable donations and auctions, track income and expenditure, and manage the transfer and arrangement of personnel..."
The man continued speaking at length, "These are all things that need to be learned. People like us who can work at the foundation are selected from the very best. Forgive my bluntness, but the gentleman you're interested in probably doesn't meet the requirements in terms of academic qualifications alone, let alone how to handle the demanding manners of the upper class."
He spoke cautiously, but the sense of superiority he exuded was so obvious that even a child could hear it.
Even before they finished speaking, the person actually doing the work had already taken over Jason's duties.
Employees in uniforms worked in pairs to unload boxes full of food from the truck and replace the empty cardboard boxes.
Several employees helped distribute the food, and the originally long line split into several shorter lines under the guidance of the employees and children, instantly increasing efficiency.
Jason stood next to Zheng En, listening intently, his hands clenched into fists, his eyes fixed on the man.
The more smart and presentable a man is dressed, the more sarcastic and bitter his words will be.
Bruce yawned. "That's enough, Sullivan. Stop nagging like an old lady. I'm the Wayne guy."
Sullivan looked rather grim, but Bruce didn't seem to care.
"My company has never lacked highly educated and successful people, but what the foundation really needs are honest and kind people. Only in this way can the money donated by everyone be put to good use, instead of being embezzled by some people."
He looked at Zheng En with a sincere attitude, "Sir, I sincerely hope that you can join the foundation, and I hope you will grant me this presumptuous request."
