Chapter 229 The Last Face
Chapter 229 The Last Face
After resting for a long time, Mo Shuang and Gui Jiao did not linger and returned to the village.
After they left, Kakashi emerged from behind a large tree not far away. He noticed that Mo Shuang's injuries were not serious, and his heart, which had been hanging in suspense the whole way, finally settled down.
He finally saw Mo Shuang's face and fell into deep thought.
Even though it's not 'her', why do I feel a surge of irritation when I see her alone with someone else?
"He will definitely figure it out."
Hidden Mist Village.
Mo Shuang was injured during a mission and was given a month to rest.
"If she keeps getting injured, then she won't be able to do any missions."
This seems like a good option.
Hozuki Mangetsu saw right through her and said, "Mo Shuang, don't try to fool us by pretending to be injured. The village leaders aren't stupid. This vacation was something I got for you."
"You're the second-in-command of Kirigakure, you'll become the Mizukage sooner or later, surely you can't even do this much!" Mo Shuang looked at Hozuki Mangetsu with a questioning gaze.
"It's not as easy as you think. I have other things to attend to, so I'll have to go now." Hozuki Mangetsu said helplessly and turned to leave.
Mo Shuang pursed her lips and walked in another direction.
As soon as she stepped into the house, Ranmaru's eyes lit up with surprise. "Sister, you're back!"
"Hmm, you haven't been bullied lately, have you?" Mo Shuang stepped forward and rubbed his head as she asked.
"No." He hadn't even gone out, so naturally he wouldn't have encountered anyone and couldn't have been bullied.
"The children in this world are all so sensible," Mo Shuang sighed inwardly before speaking again, "I'll take you out for a walk tomorrow."
Upon hearing this, Ranmaru exclaimed, "Really?" The anticipation in his eyes was quite obvious.
"Of course it's true."
"Also, don't read so late. Get some rest. If you can't get up tomorrow, I'll just go out by myself." As soon as Mo Shuang said this, Lan Wan immediately put away the books on the table and went back to her room to rest.
"Heh..." Mo Shuang chuckled and went upstairs to her room.
Time flies, and twenty days have passed in the blink of an eye. Today is the day to send Ranmaru to the medical team.
She had just gotten up when Ranmaru was already all ready to go and had even prepared breakfast.
"Does this mean I'll have to get up at three or four in the morning?" Mo Shuang's lips twitched slightly. After washing up, she came downstairs.
Under Ranmaru's watchful eye, she finished the breakfast he had prepared for her, and as expected, she was stuffed.
"This child only comes back once every ten days. It's not like he's never coming back. Is it really necessary to do so much?"
She could endure it occasionally, after all, it was Ranmaru's kind gesture.
Upon arriving at the medical department, Mo Shuang gently patted Lan Wan's head and instructed, "Study hard. If you are bullied, come back and tell on it. Your sister will stand up for you. Buy whatever you want to eat or need. Don't try to save money for your sister, understand?"
"Yes, I know, sister."
"Sister, I'm going in."
Ranmaru waved his hand and was then taken away by someone from the medical department.
Besides Ranmaru, there were actually several other children who came here, all wanting to become medical ninjas.
Once Lanwan was out of sight, Mo Shuang walked towards the street.
It seems that Kirigakure is slowly getting better; there weren't so many people on the streets before.
Upon arriving at the barbecue restaurant, Mo Shuang immediately noticed Kisame sitting in the corner.
She wanted to invite Xisha to come along, but unfortunately he wasn't in the village and couldn't watch the show.
As soon as Mo Shuang sat down, Kisame handed her the menu and said, "Order whatever you like!"
She took the menu, a strange glint in her eyes. "You've struck it rich?"
"I guess so!" Kisame readily admitted.
After being reminded by her last time, he did discover that his superior, Nishiyama Oni Fugu, had been taking advantage of him.
In a fit of rage, he killed the man. He truly hadn't expected that Nishiyama Oni Fugu, one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, would be so weak; he must have been corrupted by money.
He could no longer stay in Kirigakure, having killed so many innocent comrades. Yet, the world was so vast, and he had no idea where to go.
"Still spacing out? All the dishes are served." Mo Shuang called out and started eating.
Kisame snapped out of her daze and, seeing the food laid out in front of him, exclaimed in surprise, "How did she know he likes seafood, besides fish!"
Despite appearing cold on the surface, her inner self is completely the opposite.
"After this meal, you'll be leaving Kirigakure, right?" Mo Shuang guessed, her tone quite certain.
She then added, "I see you seem very eager to atone for your sins, so go out and gather intelligence to report back to the village."
Upon hearing this suggestion, Kisame Hoshigaki immediately had a goal in mind, and his eyes were no longer confused.
Inviting her to dinner was definitely the right thing to do.
"Please bake these for me, thank you!"
Besides the dishes that can be served directly to the table, this restaurant also offers self-grilled options.
Upon hearing this request, Kisame immediately began grilling without saying a word.
Mo Shuang watched Kisame intently grilling the meat, and he looked quite charming. It was a pity that Xi Sha wasn't there, otherwise the two of them probably would have gotten together.
However, something was strange. Ever since she entered the store, she felt a gaze following her.
She hasn't found this person yet.
Just as Mo Shuang picked up the food that Kisame had grilled, a gaze from behind seemed to pierce through her.
"What the hell?"
"How did this person suddenly get exposed?"
She lowered her head slightly, glancing behind her out of the corner of her eye.
"This looks like Kakashi?" Mo Shuang asked, somewhat uncertainly.
The disheveled, bearded man was really hard to look at.
However, he wasn't afraid of being discovered no matter what he was doing infiltrating Kirigakure.
Mo Shuang thought about it and decided to ignore it; the fact that she didn't report it was already quite merciful.
Kisame seemed to notice Mo Shuang's unusual behavior, and asked with a hint of concern, "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, I just think your baking is delicious." Mo Shuang's eyebrows curved into a smile.
This scene reminded Kisame of 'Uchiha Hajime', whom he had fought against during the Chunin Exams.
He knew about 'Uchiha Ye', and it was impossible for him to have died and come back to life here. Mo Shuang had grown up in Kirigakure since she was a child, so he must have been overthinking it.
Leaving the barbecue restaurant, Mo Shuang knew this might be the last time she saw Kisame. She whispered, "Take care while you're away!"
Kisame didn't respond. He glanced at her and turned to leave.
"I wonder if Kisame will rejoin Akatsuki this time," Mo Shuang thought to herself, resting her chin on her hand as she watched him leave.
Once the person had disappeared from her sight, she walked in another direction.
Back home, Mo Shuang felt inexplicably sentimental.
With Ranmaru, who greeted her every day, gone, she suddenly felt a little unaccustomed to it.
"Ugh, it's so annoying, there's no one to do housework or cook again."
Mo Shuang lay on the bed, considering whether she should hire a part-time nanny or something.
As she thought about it, she slowly drifted off to sleep.
Mo Shuang was awakened by noises outside, not knowing how long she had slept.
