"Suddenly! Suddenly two monsters I'd never seen before appeared! They were so fast! I didn't even get a good look at them, just saw a blue and a brown shadow flash by, and then I was blasted out of the house with a 'bang'! Look!"
As he spoke, he excitedly lifted his hat, revealing a large, noticeably swollen bump on his head with a suspicious reddish tinge.
"The fun is about to begin!"
Er Kang's eyes lit up instantly, like a cat that had caught a fishy smell.
"Elbow! Come with me to take a look!"
He immediately resumed his arrogant gait, striding confidently toward the west of the city.
However, the next second, his movements froze.
He realized that although he was walking forward, the scenery around him was rushing past—no, it was he himself who was moving backward! It was as if an invisible rubber band was pulling him back to where he started.
Er Kang cleared his throat awkwardly, then teleported to the terrified complainant, a friendly (and suspicious) smile plastered on his face.
"Excuse me, sir, could you please tell me your exact address? What is your house number?"
Everyone: "..." (You teleported like that to cover up that you got the direction wrong just now, didn't you?! Absolutely!)
After receiving the detailed address, the citizen seemed relieved, saying quickly, "That's it! Please! I need to go to Cat's Tail Tavern for a drink to calm my nerves! Diona's on duty today, I absolutely can't miss it! If you have any good news, be sure to tell me! It'll be my treat!"
Without waiting for a response from the four, he dashed off towards the Cat Tail Tavern at an astonishing speed, as if he were possessed by the wind element.
Following the address, the group of four quickly arrived at a rather cozy-looking residence in the west of the city.
The house didn't look special; it had white walls, a red roof, and a few pots of freesias on the windowsill.
"Let me see what's going on!"
Er Kang, eager to get started, once again took the lead.
He carefully (in his own opinion) placed his hand on the doorknob, preparing to apply force—
"boom--!!!"
With a loud bang, the door wasn't opened from the outside, but rather smashed open from the inside with tremendous force! The sturdy wooden door almost slammed directly into Er Kang's face!
At the same time, two figures, one in blue and one in brown, shot out of the house at a speed that was difficult to detect with the naked eye, like cannonballs!
The large blue figure seems to be... a British Shorthair cat?
The smaller brown figure was... a rat?!
Without pausing, the two figures rushed out of the room, made a sharp turn, and instantly disappeared into the intricate alleys and streets of Mondstadt, leaving behind only two trails of dust and a faint, comical melody in the air, similar to the background music of "Tom and Jerry".
"What the hell?!"
Gu Qian, with his massive body blocking the way, was also taken aback by this sudden turn of events and shouted in a deep, muffled voice.
Qingyu rubbed his eyes and said uncertainly, "I think... I saw a cat... and a mouse? And the art style... doesn't it look a little too familiar?"
Zhang Chu's calm facade finally cracked. He gasped, his voice filled with rare shock: "That's not your average Tom and Jerry! That's Tom and Jerry! Those two bastards! How could those two lawless creatures be in Teyvat?!"
"Wait! Where's Er Kang?"
Gu Qian suddenly realized that someone was missing. He turned around and saw that where Er Kang had been standing, there was a thin, human-shaped "paper" pasted on the door. The outline of it could be vaguely made out to be Er Kang. It was still swaying slightly, as if a gust of wind could blow it away.
Gu Qian stretched out his huge finger and carefully poked the "paper Erkang".
He came to a conclusion.
"It's become a paper doll."
"Why are you still standing there?!"
Qingyu was the first to react, letting out a scream comparable to an air raid siren.
"Catch them quickly! Those are Tom and Jerry! Not just any cat and mouse! They're walking calamities! They're loopholes in the laws of physics! They're the embodiment of chaos! If we let them run rampant in Mondstadt, we can rebuild the City of Freedom from the ruins by tomorrow morning without the Abyss Order even lifting a finger!"
Zhang Chu remained silent, a flash of lightning beneath his feet, and he was the first to chase after the direction in which the two figures had disappeared, his speed so fast that he left only a blur.
Qingyu, abandoning all pretense of elegance, scrambled to catch up, yelling, "Quick! Seal off the area! Notify the Knights to evacuate the crowd! No! Prepare a disaster reconstruction plan immediately!"
Gu Qian watched his two teammates disappear into the distance, then looked at the paper Er Kang still stuck to the door, trying to peel himself off. He hesitated for a second, then reached out his big hand and carefully peeled Er Kang off the door with a "ripping" sound, just like peeling off a poster. He then took a series of earth-shaking steps and chased after the center of the chaos.
The peaceful and tranquil afternoon in Mondstadt was thus completely shattered.
An unprecedented chaotic scene, sparked by a cat and a mouse, has officially begun.
Our four "honor knights" are about to face what may be the most difficult, unreasonable, and potentially comical "challenge" they have ever faced since their transmigration.
Chapter 118 Cat and Mouse
Tom grabbed Jerry, who was running around wildly, and firmly held him in his hand. A very human-like smile appeared on his cat face, a smile that was a mixture of smugness and cunning.
Jerry, who was being pinched, had his small eyes darting around, his face filled with terror.
It struggled desperately, but to no avail.
Just when it thought its cat life was about to end again, its sensitive little ears suddenly caught a series of hurried and menacing footsteps behind Tom.
Jerry tilted his head with difficulty, his gaze passing over Tom's furry shoulder, and saw a tall "monster" carrying a giant, crackling thunder hammer and wearing a cold metal mask (Zhang Chu: This is a tactical mask!), charging towards them!
That aura was more frightening than seeing a hundred cats!
“Ahhhhhh——!!!”
Jerry was terrified, and his survival instinct kicked in instantly. A strange strength, seemingly appearing out of nowhere, suddenly burst out from between Tom's fingers. Before he could even regain his footing, he used all four limbs to dash away like a brown lightning bolt, leaving only a trail of dust behind.
Tom was basking in the joy of catching Jerry when his hand suddenly went empty. He blinked in confusion and scratched his round head.
Just then, it also felt the chilling pressure from behind.
It stiffly, little by little, turned its neck—
"Ah ah ah ah ah--!!!"
Tom's screams were ten times more piercing than Jerry's! His fur stood on end instantly, making him look like a blue, fluffy balloon!
Before it could even think about what this "monster" was, its body reacted before its brain could—it turned around, took a step, and ran!
It was moving so fast that it left a brief afterimage in place before being covered by the dust it kicked up.
Thus, the following scene unfolded on the streets of Mondstadt: a naked brown mouse was running for its life in front of it, while a large blue cat with its fur standing on end was chasing it in a panic, and behind them was a murderous Hilichurl thug (whom it thought was) trying to maintain order in the city.
As they ran, Tom and Jerry miraculously found themselves running side by side.
In the brief moments of their desperate escape, the cat and mouse managed to exchange a glance, their eyes filled with speechless disbelief and terror at each other (and at the pursuers behind them).
They've got a clear look in their eyes; they're all unlucky guys being chased.
The next second, they accelerated simultaneously in perfect unison, continuing this sudden "race against time."
Along the way, in their panic, they knocked over a wooden trash can full of empty wine bottles by the roadside.
The sound of shattering and rolling bottles instantly filled the street.
Zhang Chu, who was following closely behind, had his attention completely focused on the two small, fast-moving targets ahead, and didn't pay any attention to his feet.
With a "plop," he precisely stepped on a shiny, slightly bouncy banana peel that either Tom or Jerry had "accidentally" dropped while running away.
Zhang Chu only had time to utter a short, surprised sound before his massive body instantly lost its balance. Like a cannonball, his feet left the ground, and he slid forward along an extremely comical parabola—
"Whoosh—Bang!!!"
He crashed directly into the wall of an innocent house on the side of the street, his whole body embedded in the wall in a "T" shape, leaving only a human-shaped hole and a flurry of falling brick dust.
The powerful thunder hammer flew out of his hand and stuck in a vegetable garden not far away, still crackling with electric arcs.
Tom and Jerry heard a loud noise behind them, braked at the same time, and cautiously looked back.
Seeing that the "monster" had been temporarily dealt with, they all raised their paws (little hands), wiped away non-existent cold sweat from their foreheads, and breathed a long sigh of relief.
However, the crisis is not over!
"Found you! Surrender now!"
Like a ghost, Qingyu burst out from another alleyway, displaying the speed of the Windwalker Ranger to its fullest extent, heading straight for Tom and Jerry.
Jerry's little eyes darted around and he instantly noticed a shovel leaning against the wall.
On a sudden impulse, it rushed over with lightning speed and swung the shovel handle upwards!
Just as Qingyu was about to grab Tom, he suddenly tripped over something and instinctively looked down—
"boom!!!"
The shovel handle, which Jerry had cleverly propped up, slammed into Qingyu's unsuspecting face with perfect precision!
The force was so great that it even produced an echo like the striking of a gong.
Qingyu froze instantly. The eyes under his mask turned into spinning mosquito coils. His body swayed twice, then with a "thud," he fell straight to the ground, losing consciousness.
Tom looked at the fallen Qingyu, then at Jerry standing beside him with his hands on his hips and a smug look on his face, and a look of admiration (?) appeared on his cat face.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
Heavy, rhythmic footsteps approached, like a small earthquake.
Tom and Jerry looked up in horror and saw Gu Qian, who was like a mobile fortress, approaching with huge strides. In the pocket of his waist was Er Kang, who had just regained his human form but was still dizzy.
"Ahhhhh!!"
Tom screamed again, instinctively trying to turn and run away, only to find Jerry was gone!
A familiar voice came from the side.
Tom turned his head and saw that a huge, dark red curtain, like that used backstage at a stage, had appeared by the roadside.
Jerry was peeking his little head out from the edge of the curtain, waving frantically at it.
Without the slightest hesitation, Tom rushed over, lifted the curtain, and crawled inside.
When Gu Qian and Er Kang arrived, they only saw empty streets and that abrupt curtain.
"Why is it gone?"
Gu Qian asked in confusion, turning his enormous head from side to side.
Er Kang, who had already climbed out of the pocket but was still a little dizzy, jumped to the ground, rubbing his temples, and said, "They must be hiding! Let's look for them, but be careful, Zhang Chu and Qing Yu have already been ambushed by them!"
Gu Qian nodded heavily and began to carefully search the surroundings as if he were sweeping through mines.
However, just as they turned their backs to the deep red curtain, Jerry silently emerged from under the curtain.
