Chapter 92 Asgard, Never Give Up
Chapter 92 Asgard, Never Give Up
In the corridor of the Golden Palace, the Holy Lord slowed his pace. Wanda noticed the change in the Holy Lord and asked, "Master, what are you thinking about?"
The Holy Lord did not hide anything, his gaze falling on the distant treasury: "Asgardian runes, I feel them calling to me."
Wanda followed the Holy Lord's gaze toward the treasury, her eyes flashing with chaos magic: "The treasury's defensive array is very complex. I tried to probe it with chaos magic, and there are at least twelve different magical barriers and guards protecting it."
"I know."
"So what does the master plan to do?"
Shendu stopped and looked at Wanda. Wanda's heart raced as they met eyes. "On the day the celestial bodies align, Odin's attention will be entirely focused on the battlefield. Malekith won't launch a direct attack, but instead, he'll send people to infiltrate Asgard and create chaos."
Wanda's eyes widened slightly. What the Holy Lord was saying were all future scenarios, which might seem like a fantasy to outsiders, but Wanda had always believed them without question: "You mean...?"
The Holy Lord's lips curled slightly upward: "The Dark Elves will help us open the treasure vault; we just need to be in the right place at the right time."
Wanda lowered her head, her eyes filled with adoration for the Holy Lord: "Master's illustrious name."
"Master," Wanda said in a low voice, raising her head, "if Odin discovers your true intentions, we are in Asgard, the territory of the Allfather."
The Holy Lord chuckled dismissively: "Odin? That old fellow is getting old. His power is waning, his judgment is declining, and he can't even control his own son. Why do you think he so easily agreed to let me participate in the defense design?"
Wanda didn't respond, waiting for the Holy Lord to continue.
"He's afraid. He can feel my power, though he's not sure what it is. But Odin has had it for so long that what he fears most now is something unknown and powerful."
Wanda exclaimed in worship, "Our master sees all."
At the end of the corridor, Loki leaned against a pillar, still fiddling with his dagger. When he saw the Holy Lord arrive, an enigmatic smile appeared on his face.
"Lord," Loki sheathed his dagger and stood up from the pillar, "I've been looking for you."
The Holy Lord stopped and watched quietly to see what tricks he was going to play.
Loki's gaze swept between Shendu and Wanda: "Father wants you to go to the Golden Palace. Queen Frigga wants to discuss the defense plan for the treasury with you."
"Now?"
Loki shrugged: "The celestial convergence has been brought forward, and time is running out."
The Holy Lord nodded and continued walking forward, pausing as he passed Loki: "Your hands are trembling."
Loki's smile froze for a moment, then quickly returned to normal: "Just stayed up all night."
The Lord did not expose him. Wanda trembled uncontrollably after passing Loki. He remembered what had happened in the garden yesterday, and he remembered what Wanda had told him: the master had known about this all along.
In the Golden Palace, Odin sat on his throne, and Frigg sat beside him, her gaze as gentle as ever.
Upon seeing the Holy Lord, Odin immediately asked, "Are you sure you can pinpoint their location?"
The Holy Lord closed his eyes, and the Mind Stone, combined with the Perception Magic, created ripples in the space. He then spread this power beyond the World Tree through it.
A short while later, the Holy Lord opened his eyes: "They are still in the void, but they are very close. At the current speed, they will arrive in Asgard three hours after the celestial bodies have finished converging."
A murmur rippled through the hall; three hours had passed, half the expected time.
The Holy Lord continued, "The defense plan needs to be adjusted. The first line of defense needs to be extended 500 meters to the east, and the second line of defense should be concentrated on the east side of the Golden Palace."
"Why the east side?" the general questioned. "The observatory's data shows that the weak point in space is on the west side."
The Holy Lord glanced at him, and the general felt a pressure all over his body, breaking out in a cold sweat.
The Holy Lord withdrew his gaze: "The observatory's data only takes into account the operation of the Nine Realms themselves, and does not take into account the interference of the Dark Elves."
The general opened his mouth, wanting to refute, but found that he couldn't find any point to refute.
Odin remained silent for a long time before finally nodding: "Do as the Holy Lord says."
The atmosphere in the hall became subtle after these words were spoken. The fact that the Allfather had accepted the advice of an outsider was unprecedented in the history of Asgard.
Thor smiled, pleased that his ally had gained his father's trust.
Loki stood in a corner of the hall, a barely perceptible smile playing on his lips. Unlike the others, he knew exactly what this meant: Odin was losing control of the situation, and the initiative was slipping into the hands of the Holy Lord.
Frigga's gaze lingered on the Holy Lord for a long time; she had a bad feeling about this man: "Holy Lord, the defenses of the treasury also need to be adjusted."
Frigga stepped down from the throne and went to a long table in the center of the hall. She ran her fingers across the table, and the runes on the table lit up, revealing the structure of the treasure vault.
"The vault currently has twelve magical barriers and three descent teams." Frigga only wanted the structural markings: "As you suggested, you are responsible for guarding the third line of defense, which is also the core area of the vault, but after discussions with Odin, we need to add another measure."
The Holy Lord looked at the structural diagram without interrupting her.
Frigga continued, "Loki will guard the vault with you. In addition, we will set up a separate alarm system that only Odin and I can deactivate."
The Holy Lord's expression remained unchanged. On the contrary, he thought Frigga was out of her mind for revealing all her backup plans: "Okay."
After the meeting, Thor came to the Holy Lord's side, his tone tinged with worry: "It seems that Father still cannot fully trust you."
The Holy Lord said calmly, "I can understand. If I were Odin, I wouldn't easily trust an outsider completely either."
With the final day of the celestial convergence countdown underway, Asgard has entered a state of combat readiness.
Thousands of Asgardian soldiers stood in neat rows in the plaza of the Golden Palace, their armor and weapons gleaming in the sky, preparing for the upcoming battle.
Thor stood at the front of the line, Mjolnir spinning in his hand.
Wanda stood beside the Holy Lord and whispered, "Master, news has come from the observatory that the Dark Elf's ship has left the void and is approaching Asgard."
The Holy Lord nodded: "How much longer?"
Three hours.
Odin stood at the very center of the ranks, raising the Spear of Eternity. The light from its tip illuminated the entire plaza, and his voice, like thunder, echoed in everyone's ears: "Warriors! The Dark Elves have come! They seek to defeat millennia of shame and plunge the entire universe into darkness."
Odin's single eye flashed with a cold light: "Today, we will show them that Asgard never gives up!"
