Chapter 31 The Room of Requirement
Chapter 31 The Room of Requirement
"Merlin, so much stuff!"
Staring at the endless pile of clutter in his field of vision, Ron's mouth dropped open, then he suddenly realized something, and his face flushed red:
"There might be some antiques here that are a thousand years old..."
Hermione rolled her eyes at him: "Faced with such a magical house, this is the first thing that comes to your mind?"
Ron scratched his face and muttered under his breath, "This is a normal reaction."
Vaughn watched with a smile, and only after the three of them had gradually adjusted did he casually ask Harry, "Harry, how do you feel?"
"Hmm?" Harry asked, somewhat puzzled, but replied anyway, "Uh, it's amazing."
"Anything else?"
Harry was a little confused. "What else should there be?"
Ron and Hermione also looked at Vaughn curiously.
"Nothing, just asking." Vaughn waved his hand and then said:
"You can wander around; maybe you'll find ancient artifacts from a thousand years ago, just like Ron said."
Ron immediately dragged Harry off on an adventure.
Hermione was also drawn to a bunch of sparkly things and decided to go take a look.
Watching their figures disappear into the distance, Vaughn's expression turned serious, and he narrowed his eyes:
"It seems that the attraction and resonance between Horcruxes wasn't something that existed from the beginning..."
On the third day of school last week, Vaughn found the Room of Requirement, not because he desperately needed a private space, but because a treasure was hidden in this cluttered room.
Ravenclaw's crown!
It was a magical alchemical artifact, said to grant wisdom to whoever wore it.
Vaughn had no idea what wisdom was.
But without a doubt, the thing that Ravenclaw, one of the four great wizards, once wore on his head may have contained the most mysterious and cutting-edge magic of ancient alchemy.
Not to mention, it was turned into a Horcrux by Voldemort!
When he thought of Socket Man, Vaughn's expression turned somewhat cold.
He never imagined that one day he would kneel before Voldemort and kiss his robes.
That guy with a split soul, who's completely gone mad, has no value in following me, let alone cooperating with me.
But there is no doubt that Voldemort was a very powerful wizard!
In the past, some people thought that Voldemort was nothing special and couldn't even beat Dumbledore, a man who was over a hundred years old.
They didn't consider that Dumbledore possessed the Elder Wand and was a master of Transfiguration.
As can be seen from the original work, the Avada Kedavra curse is not invincible; it can be blocked, especially by things created through transfiguration—it can temporarily give life to inanimate objects, allowing them to be killed by the Kedavra curse in place of the wizard.
Voldemort, who dedicated his life to studying the Unforgivable Curse, was completely outmatched by Dumbledore.
Even so, Dumbledore never truly defeated Voldemort.
"I need more time to grow, and I need to weaken Tom, at least to ensure that he doesn't cause trouble in the next few years, just like in the original story..."
Vaughn twirled his wand between his fingers, his gaze on the clutter deep and unfathomable. Of course, he wouldn't destroy the Horcruxes himself.
But that didn't stop him from finding the Horcrux and then giving it to Dumbledore.
The great white wizard was puzzled as to why Voldemort was still alive, and he could just lend him a hand.
I imagine Old Deng would be very grateful to him!
He originally planned to use Harry's sense of Horcruxes to find Ravenclaw's tiara, but it seems the time is not right now.
He had no choice but to work hard and slowly search through the mountain of clutter.
The trio was thrilled by the House of Requirement's magic, and they originally planned to stay for a few more days.
But the very next day, news of Harry joining the Gryffindor Quidditch team spread throughout Hogwarts.
Team captain Wood was very annoyed. He repeatedly told Harry and the team members to keep it a secret, hoping to use Harry as a secret weapon.
But Harry, who was "keep his mouth shut," turned around and told his friends.
Fred and George, two of the team members, were jumping around excitedly the next day, telling everyone they met:
"Harry is our Seeker, the House Cup is definitely ours this year!"
That night, Wood sat despairingly at the Quidditch pitch, wondering what to do with so many big mouths on his team.
Harry was also in pain; he had almost forgotten that his and Malfoy's confinement would last for a week.
Compared to the confinement that followed, cleaning the trophy room was actually the easiest part—he was going to help Professor Snape process the medicinal herbs!
The trio's plan to explore the House of Requirement had to be postponed.
After searching the Room of Requirement for two more days without success, Vaughn went to Professor Snape's office again on the weekend.
As soon as he pushed open the door, he heard Snape's sharp and sarcastic voice:
"Tsk tsk, Potter, I really want to crack open your skull and see if it's filled with slug slime, making your thick, stupid head full of it."
Malfoy was chuckling.
Only when he heard the door being pushed open did Snape raise his face, which was almost touching Harry's head.
He glanced at Vaughn as he entered, then pulled a slip of paper from his drawer and handed it to him.
He maintained his concise style: "The book is in the library. Here's the approval slip; take a look yourself!"
"Thank you, Professor."
Vaughn thanked him, and shrugged helplessly at Harry, who was staring at him pleadingly with his eyes glazed over from the spray.
That's the professor's love for you, Harry. How can outsiders interfere?
Upon arriving at the library, Vaughn handed the note to Mrs. Pince, the thin, elderly witch who was the third most feared person among the young wizards.
Anyone who dares to make a scene in the library will get a feather duster from her and be kicked out of the library in a sorry state.
She glanced at the note with her hawk-like eyes, then at Vaughn, and complained:
"A restricted section? Why would Professor Snape issue such an outrageous note? The books there are definitely not for first-year students to borrow."
"The professor believes I am qualified, madam," Vaughn said with a smile.
"Hmph..." Mrs. Pince, like an angry bull, snorted out, but ultimately did not question anything further.
"Follow me, and be quiet!"
Mrs. Pince led Vaughn to the restricted section at the back of the library.
She dispelled the spell on the forbidden book section, leaving Vaughn outside, and hurried inside. When she came out, she was carrying several books: "Advanced Potion Making," "Powerful Potions," "The Complete Book of Advanced Magic," and this one... "An Introduction to Dark Magic," which Professor Snape allowed you to borrow.
"Thank you, madam." Vaughn accepted it.
Mrs. Pince gave him another deep look and instructed, "The contents of these books are very dangerous. If there are any problems, be sure to find Professor Snape immediately, or me, understand?"
After Vaughn agreed, Mrs. Pince let him leave.
