Chapter 63 Protective Kidnapping
Chapter 63 Protective Kidnapping
Chapter 63 Protective Kidnapping
"I was prepared for this."
The Penguin heard Batman say:
"Previously, the clown and the scarecrow teamed up to kidnap Mayor Caro, but as their relationship broke down and they attacked each other, while the scarecrow was beaten black and blue by the clown, Mayor Caro broke free from the control of the fear gas and has now safely returned home."
"Although he suffers from neurasthenia and coquettishness," Robin added as she slid past in a chair sitting nearby.
"However, based on my understanding of the Scarecrow, he will never give up easily."
The Penguin listened to Batman's calm analysis. This was the Batman he knew: cold, alert, like a cold machine, with a thorough understanding of the psychology of villains and the ability to easily predict their every move.
This Batman is terrifying; he is genuinely terrified of him.
"Next, we have to...we have to..."
"Beep beep—da da—beep beep da da beep da—"
"I'm sorry," Batman said.
He turned and shouted at Harley Quinn:
"Harley—if you play that kind of music again, I'm kicking you out of the Batcave!!!"
Poison Ivy started chasing Harley, and the two women got into a brawl.
The penguin managed to maintain a serious expression on his face.
"Therefore, I judge that the Scarecrow will definitely try to bring Mayor Carlo back," Chen Tao turned around and continued:
"The Scarecrow is an extremely arrogant criminal who is obsessed with fear. For him, nothing is perfect without a full-blown sense of fear."
"Therefore, if he wants to stew a pot of fear soup that is delicious enough, Mayor Caro, as the nominal head of a city, will be an indispensable ingredient."
"Especially given that he had this ingredient before, his pursuit of perfection would make him unable to tolerate the absence of Mayor Carlo."
Even though he now possesses more powerful weapons to threaten and intimidate Gotham, he will still pursue even more perfect intimidation at all costs—an inevitable consequence of his mental illness.
The Penguin heard Batman continue:
"Okay, you heard me say that Scarecrow might have another weapon that could threaten Gotham even more—that's right, in fact, we initially suspect that the person who stole your nuclear bomb is Scarecrow."
Chen Tao showed the Penguin the analysis report that Tim had provided: "The Scarecrow has the ability and the motivation."
The Penguin recalled how the Scarecrow had silently appeared behind him, which subtly confirmed Batman's statement.
In Gotham City, no ordinary person can resist the Scarecrow's fear gas, and his ability to instill immense fear in others gives him unparalleled talent in torture.
If anyone in Gotham City might know the secret that he possesses nuclear weapons, Scarecrow is undoubtedly one of them.
But he still didn't understand what the bat was planning to do.
"So... Klein will find a way to bring Mayor Carlo back, then why don't you set a trap at Mayor Carlo's house? What's the point of coming to me?"
"Well, what I mean is, the Scarecrow may be sick, but it's not stupid. If we can figure that out, then we can't rule out the possibility that the Scarecrow also guessed that we would think that way."
The Penguin coughed lightly when he saw Batman:
"Therefore, if we set a trap directly at Mayor Carlo's house, the scarecrow might not fall for it. He will take a roundabout approach, and when we are forced to weaken our protection of Mayor Carlo because of other things he has done, the long-waiting Klein will suddenly strike and kidnap Mayor Carlo."
"So...?" To be honest, the Penguin still didn't understand what Batman was trying to say.
"So, in order to prevent the Scarecrow from kidnapping Mayor Carlo, we kidnapped Mayor Carlo first."
"?"
The Penguin stared dumbfounded as Batman chased Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy away from playing on the sofa, then pulled out a huge drawer from under the sofa.
The next second, the penguin slapped himself on the head.
Inside the drawer was a naked man, bound hand and foot, gagged. It was Mayor Carlo, who was still terrified after escaping the clutches of the clown and the scarecrow and should have been resting in bed at home.
The other person's eyes were tightly closed, with a tear stain at the corner of their eye, as if they were still immersed in some nightmare from which they could not wake up.
"I'm really impressed with you, Batman."
Penguin Man said.
"Therefore, we need a scarecrow with enough trust to claim that he has kidnapped Mayor Caro and is offering this ingredient to the scarecrow, thus luring him out."
Penguin immediately understood; this person was him, Penguin.
"Of course, given Professor Klein's excellent social, persuasive, and leadership skills, we must anticipate the possibility that Klein may have other helpers."
The Penguin was pulled to a nearby cabinet by Batman, who pulled out a bottle of dark yellow potion and said:
"This is a mud softening solvent specially developed for the Mudman. Once Basil (the villain Mudman's original name) drinks this stuff, his body will no longer be able to harden and will become as soft and limp as a lump of slime."
He saw the other person pull out another USB drive: "A virus specially made for Victor's (the villain Mr. Freeze's real name) cryogenic life support armor. As long as you secretly connect it to Victor's cryogenic armor, this virus will tamper with the armor's core program and turn Victor into a cooked shrimp in no time. No hardware insertion is needed; just get close enough, and it will automatically hack in."
Penguin had already imagined how Mr. Freeze had collapsed to the ground, howling in pain, and he swallowed hard.
How insidious!
"A nuclear magnetic interference device specifically designed to counter Garfield (the villain Firefly's real name). Once this thing is turned on, his flamethrower and flamethrower armor will no longer be able to ignite, and all his equipment will immediately go silent. But be careful when using it."
He heard Batman continue, "This thing will disable Garfield's flight system as well. That means once it's activated, he'll immediately plummet headfirst from the sky like a kite with a broken string. If he's not lucky, he'll die. You have to activate this thing before he takes off."
"Sodium hydroxide solution, a strongly alkaline solution, can react with phosphorus to produce phosphine. I'm sure such a large bottle will make Dr. Phosphorus feel nauseous..."
"See this potion? It's specifically for Dr. Langstone (the villainous bat's real name). Just one injection can temporarily revert him from that giant humanoid bat back to a human..."
The Penguin stared blankly as Batman rattled off the gadgets that could make Gotham's villains want to vomit.
He saw the other person's mouth widen, saliva glistening, revealing a smile as if they were experiencing an orgasm.
Hey, you're excited, aren't you? You're really excited, aren't you?
"So, Oswald, will you join this project?"
When Batman asked that question, the Penguin felt everyone drop what they were doing and stare at him with pairs of deep blue eyes, making him feel like he was surrounded by wolves.
"Okay, I'll join."
He raised his hands in surrender.
