Chapter 5 Ripples
Chapter 5 Ripples
The night wind was chilly, and the roar of the infinite train in the wilderness gradually subsided.
Pei Qi stood on the shattered roof of the car, looking down at the white particles that represented the nightmare dissipating.
"Tsk, it's so clean."
Pei Qi flicked the lower-realm alloy sword in his hand, the longsword drawing a deep purple light in the moonlight. He sighed with some regret.
"What a pity, not even a single item dropped. It's supposed to be a 'Lower Moon One,' so it's a shame it didn't drop any special ore or a head as decoration. It's a waste of all the TNT I spent."
"If we could find that demon called 'Muzan,' trap him, and use him to continuously produce demons..."
"How about building a vertically descending mob farm? Or using lava for automatic harvesting? Maybe we can farm some amazing materials."
Pei Qi stroked his chin, a thought driven by professional habit flashing through his mind.
The dangerous thought flashed through his mind, but he shook his head and dismissed it.
"Forget it, we have to take things one step at a time. We haven't fully figured out this world yet, and the mob farm probably can't withstand any more damage. Let's clean up the mess right now."
At this moment, the Infinite Train emitted a piercing metallic scraping sound and finally came to a slow stop in the middle of the wilderness.
Although Nightmare was dead, his previous deep fusion with the train caused significant damage to some of its propulsion systems when large chunks of flesh and nerve tissue were removed. To ensure safety, the train had to undergo repairs in place.
Tanjiro was busy comforting the passengers who had just woken up and were still in shock. Although they had been through the "milk" incident, the mental trauma suffered by ordinary people still needed time to heal.
On the open ground beside the train, Flame Pillar Kyojuro Rengoku stood quietly.
His eyes, like burning torches, were fixed on Pei Qi as he stepped off the train.
"Hmm! Young man!"
Kyojuro spoke first, his voice booming like a great bell, startling several birds in the forest into flight. "Although I was unable to go all out due to the interference of the dream, your fighting style is truly breathtaking!"
"That monstrous strength without the aid of breathing techniques, and that ominously black blade capable of slaying demons—who exactly is it?"
Pei Qi stopped in his tracks; he had already prepared his response.
"As you can see, Mr. Purgatory." Pei Qi sheathed his longsword and deftly stuffed a bucket of unfinished milk back into the void. In that instant, he could feel Kyojuro's pupils shrink slightly.
"I am not a warrior of this country. I am an 'exorcist' who travels all over the world." Pei Qi's voice was deep and serious, carrying a sense of weight and experience.
"In the West and in the distant continent of Europe, these fanged, sun-fearing, and man-eating creatures are not uncommon. We call them vampires, zombies, or evil spirits."
As Pei Qi spoke, he observed Kyojuro's reaction. Seeing that the other party seemed to be listening, he continued to spout nonsense with a straight face.
"I crossed the ocean to come here because I heard that there is a terrifying demon in the East called 'Muzan,' whose strength far surpasses that of the vampires I have dealt with. As slayers of demons and monsters, benefiting all living beings is our creed."
"An exorcist? The world is indeed full of wonders!" Kyojuro crossed his arms and nodded slightly.
But he wasn't easily fooled, and his gaze immediately fell on Pei Qi's sword: "I've seen Western greatswords before, but never one made of such material. It's not forged from scarlet iron sand, yet it can stop the regeneration of demons like a Nichirin Blade. Why is that?"
"This involves a special kind of inheritance," Pei Qi said in a low voice, deliberately slowing his speech.
"When I was traveling in the Western Regions, I followed a holy monk who lived in seclusion in the mountains. He taught me that the power of life lies in 'breathing' and 'the pulse of blood'."
"Breathing?" Kyojuro raised an eyebrow slightly.
"That's right, but it's slightly different from your breathing method." Pei Qi calmly retrieved a classic concept from his past life's memories. "We call it—Ripple."
"ripple?"
"Yes. Through a specific breathing rhythm, energy is generated, like the fluctuations of the sun, and then transmitted to the weapon through the blood."
"Look, the ghosts I killed eventually disintegrated into white particles and evaporated. That's proof that the 'Ripple Energy' completely purified the evil attributes within them and returned them to their original light points."
Pei Qi's words were actually full of logical traps, but in the world of Demon Slayer, everyone is playing with breathing.
The "power of the sun" coincides with the principle of the Nichirin Blade. In addition, the white particles after MC's kill do look more "sacred" than turning to ashes, and Kyojuro actually fell into deep thought.
"Hmm... I see! The solar energy is generated through blood? I've never heard of such a thing before, but I could definitely feel the life force that burst forth in that instant!"
Kyojuro laughed heartily, "The world is indeed vast, Pei Qi! Your existence proves the infinite possibilities of human evolution!"
Just as the two were chatting happily, and Tanjiro had just come over to show his respect, the temperature in the air suddenly dropped to freezing.
Pei Qi keenly noticed that on the small map in the upper right corner of his field of vision, a huge, blood-red dot was rushing in from the edge of the forest at an incredible speed.
"spread!"
No sooner had Pei Qi uttered his warning than Xing Shulang's figure transformed into a streak of blazing red light.
"Flame Breathing - First Form - Shiranui!"
Kyojuro drew his sword with lightning speed, and the scorching air swept out with the blade, instantly severing a dense forest in front of him at the roots.
The scorching sword energy carved a charred furrow into the grass.
However, amidst that devastating slash, a pink afterimage leaped lightly, tracing an elegant yet dangerous arc in the air, before landing steadily on the broken tree trunk.
His entire body was covered in dark blue stripes, and beneath his short hair, a pair of golden eyes marked with "Upper Moon" and "Third Moon" exuded a breathtaking sense of dread.
"Hmm... excellent reaction speed."
Akaza stood firmly on the tree trunk. He didn't even glance at the ashes left by the dead Enmu. Instead, he stared at Kyojuro with an almost predatory look.
"What a brilliant strike! Even though that useless Enmu managed to merge with the car with Muzan-sama's power-ups, it was still powerless against such pure swordsmanship."
He extended his tattooed hand, making an inviting gesture towards Kyojuro, his tone carrying a morbid sincerity.
"I'll remember your name. It would be such a shame if someone with this level of fighting spirit were to simply grow old and die a few decades later as a lowly human."
"Kyojuro, become a demon! Only by abandoning this fragile body can you touch the true essence of martial arts."
"Human lifespan is so short; it would be a tremendous waste to let this peak power decay along with the physical body!"
