Kai set up a dense network of ropes in the training ground. These ropes were controlled by a mechanism that would whip and entangle him from various directions at irregular intervals.
After being blindfolded, Naruto could only rely on his hearing and physical senses to avoid danger. The "whoosh" of the rope whipping the air and the "rustle" of the ground scraping against it became his signals of danger.
If you're not careful, you'll be whipped hard by the ropes, leaving red welts, or you'll be entangled and unable to move.
Next, Guy tied Naruto to a big tree and then threw a rock far away at the beehive on the tree.
"Waaaaah!!!" Naruto frantically dodged the bees' attacks under the tree.
At the foot of a mountain, where the cliff face is almost vertical, "you climb the cliff with your hands, and if you slip, you have to start over."
Naruto could only dig his fingernails deep into the cracks in the rock wall. With each inch he moved upward, he had to endure the excruciating pain of his entire weight pressing on his fingertips. Occasionally, sharp pebbles protruding from the rock wall would also cut his palms and knees.
Kakashi, who was secretly protecting Naruto, covered his face. "That's too much, Guy!"
Even when he and Kai were kids, they wouldn't have been able to endure this kind of extreme training.
It's too physically demanding, but for Naruto's incredible regenerative abilities, this is the most suitable training method for him.
Ordinary training methods would only waste his talent.
Kakashi recognized this, so he never stopped Guy's training methods.
All I could do was silently cheer for Naruto in my heart.
Keep going, Naruto, you will definitely have a place in the future of the ninja world.
In this extreme training mode, breaking physical limits is just the most common thing.
Both his physical and mental abilities are rapidly improving under Kai's extreme training.
Chapter 8 Hinata
Naruto opened his eyes from the bed and rubbed them.
He opened the curtains by the bed and was greeted by a world of white. Large, fluffy snowflakes were falling in abundance, covering rooftops, trees, and streets with a thick blanket of snow. Even the distant Hokage Rock was draped in a white snow cap.
The cold wind, carrying snowflakes, lashed against the windowpane, making a rustling sound.
"It's snowing."
Naruto put on his clothes and a tattered red scarf, and headed towards the training ground.
An unexpected incident occurred while passing through a secluded alley.
Three little boys appear to be bullying a little girl who is crouching down with her head in her hands.
"OI, stop!" Naruto shouted, hands in his pockets, and strode over.
The three little boys stopped bullying the little girl and looked at Naruto who was walking over.
"Tch, who are you? Mind your own business," one of the boys shouted.
“That’s a good question. I’m your father!” Naruto said.
“Impossible, my dad is at home,” he retorted.
Naruto helped the little girl, who was squatting on the ground, to her feet and then stood in front of her.
"Of course I can't be your father. You're just a turtle with a brain stuck in your head by a telephone pole and crushed by the road. Do you even deserve to be my son?" Naruto shouted.
"Hey boss, he's insulting you," the chubby boy next to him said to the little boy.
"Of course I know, what a joke!" the little boy said fiercely to the chubby boy, then turned and pointed at Naruto, saying, "Brothers, give him a good beating!"
"Clap! Clap! Clap!"
Naruto kept his hands in his pockets, but gently put his feet down.
He single-handedly delivered a kick to each of the three opponents.
With his current speed and strength, defeating three untrained peers would be too easy for him.
"Get out of here! If I see you bullying others again, I'll beat you so badly your own mother won't recognize you!" Naruto shouted.
The three little boys didn't dare to argue and helped each other away.
After they had walked a distance, the little boy who had led the group wiped away his tears and said, "Damn it, I'll definitely have my brother teach him a lesson."
“That’s right, Kojiro is already a genin, so if he’s the one to deal with him, he’ll definitely teach him a lesson,” the chubby boy nodded and said.
"Hey, are you alright?" Naruto turned to look at the little girl, whose face was red from the cold and whose pure white eyes were blinking at him.
They're incredibly cute.
"No, it's nothing," the little girl said softly, her head slightly lowered, seemingly shy.
"Why are they bullying you?" Naruto asked curiously.
“Because of my eyes, they say I’m a monster,” the little girl said softly, her voice trembling slightly, as if she herself was a little ashamed.
Naruto remained silent. Wasn't this the nickname the villagers used to call him?
Naruto has experienced it firsthand; this kind of title is not pleasant.
He looked at the little girl with a gentle smile and said, "Don't listen to their nonsense. I think your eyes are beautiful. You're not a monster!"
The little girl opened her eyes slightly and looked at Naruto, her cheeks as red as an apple.
"Are you lost? Do you want me to take you home?" Naruto asked, scratching his head.
"I, I..." the little girl stammered, when she heard someone shout loudly from behind, "Hinata-san!"
"Your family is here to pick you up?" Naruto heard this and looked back. A young woman was running towards them quickly.
"Mm." Hinata nodded.
"Alright, I'm off then. It's freezing cold, you should go home with your family soon." Naruto couldn't help but pat Hinata's head as he looked at her shy expression.
He also wanted a younger brother or sister, but unfortunately his parents didn't leave him one.
Hinata felt the hand above her head was warm but strong.
Watching Naruto turn and leave, Hinata couldn't help but ask, "Brother, what's your name?"
"Naruto, Uzumaki Naruto!" Naruto shouted his name without turning his head.
"Naruto Uzumaki..." Hinata murmured Naruto's name softly.
"Miss Hinata, are you alright?" A young woman from the Hyuga clan appeared beside Hinata and asked anxiously.
"I'm fine, let's go back," Hinata said, shaking her head.
"He..." The young woman looked at Naruto's retreating figure, but ultimately said nothing, nodding and saying, "Okay, let's go home."
She took Hinata's hand and walked in another direction.
Hinata turned her head, as if trying to memorize that blond-haired figure.
When he arrived at the training ground, Kai was already waiting for him.
"Sorry, Guy-sensei, I was a little delayed on the way," Naruto said.
"It's nothing." Kai shook his head. He didn't ask Naruto what had happened. Since Naruto was able to come here, it meant that the matter had been resolved.
“Next, you’ll have to wear these weights for training.” Kai pointed to the weighted clothing on the ground.
“Okay.” Naruto didn’t say anything; he just did whatever Guy said.
He quickly put on his weighted gear, which did not hinder his movements.
“This set of weighted gear weighs 20 pounds. From now on, you can’t take it off except when you’re showering or sleeping,” Kai said.
"Understood." Naruto nodded resolutely in response.
"Great! Let's begin today's training. Let's do frog jumps to climb the mountain! The power of youth!" Kai shouted, leading Naruto in a frog jump.
After a day of training, Guy took Naruto to a hot spring for a relaxing bath.
The bathroom was reserved for just the two of them. Because Naruto was not accepted by the villagers, Guy would always book the entire bathroom whenever he took Naruto to a bathhouse.
“Naruto, how do you feel about the extreme training I’ve been giving you every day for the past year?” Guy suddenly asked.
"How do you feel? Training is quite tiring, but I feel like I'm improving every day," Naruto said after thinking for a moment.
"Haha, you break your own limits three times a day on average. How can you not feel your progress?" Kai looked at Naruto's strong body with satisfaction. This kid was someone he had carefully cultivated, and he was quite proud of him.
Ordinary people should never use this kind of extreme training, because it could really kill them.
“Starting tomorrow, I will be going out to receive missions. While I’m gone, will you be able to train on your own?” Kai said.
"Of course I can, I'm not the kind of person who slacks off, Guy-sensei. Are you leaving the village tomorrow?" Naruto patted his chest in response, then asked curiously.
"Yes, I've taken on a mission to escort nobles. It'll probably take about half a month," Kai nodded and said.
Naruto pursed his lips, feeling a little guilty towards Guy. For the past year, Guy hadn't accepted any missions, focusing instead on training Naruto and honing his physical abilities.
Moreover, they took him out to eat, bathe him, and used various medicinal dishes and oils on him every day.
As his training intensity increased, so did his expenses, but Kai continued to support him silently without saying a word.
Although he is only five years old, it doesn't mean he doesn't understand what gratitude is; on the contrary, he understands it better than others.
After all, Kai was one of the few people who were wholeheartedly good to him.
Naruto's eyes were a little red as he submerged his head in the water. "Don't worry, Guy-sensei, I'll definitely repay you in the future."
"Ah, I wonder what's outside the village." Naruto lifted his head out of the water, his voice regaining its usual energetic tone.
"Haha, Naruto, what you want to know, you'll have to wait until you graduate from the Ninja Academy and take on a mission to see for yourself," Kai said with a hearty laugh.
Chapter 9 Kakashi teaches Naruto
“While I was away, I found someone else to help guide your cultivation,” Kai said after laughing.
"Huh? There are other experts?" Naruto said curiously.
“Yes, he is both my best friend and my lifelong rival. His name is Kakashi Hatake, and he is the youngest Jonin in Konoha’s history,” Guy said.
"Wow! That's amazing!" Naruto exclaimed in praise.
“Naruto, I’ve said before that I’m not good at ninjutsu because of my lack of talent. But you’re different. Although I’m a ninja who specializes in taijutsu, it doesn’t mean you have to follow my path. It would be best if you could also learn and master ninjutsu,” Guy said.
“Kakashi is extremely skilled in ninjutsu, proficient in thousands of techniques, and is known as the Copy Ninja. Having him lay the foundation for your ninjutsu skills would be ideal,” Guy said.
Naruto was deeply moved; Guy had already helped him plan out his future path.
This is what a true master should be like.
The next day, Guy brought Naruto to a house early in the morning.
Today is the day Kai is to escort the nobleman away, but according to Kai, the nobleman won't wake up until noon, so they won't be able to set off until at least the afternoon.
So he still has time in the morning.
"Kakashi, Kakashi!!" Guy shouted loudly, his voice strong and clear, so loud that it could definitely be heard inside the house even with the doors closed.
Not long after, Kakashi opened the door with one dead fish eye half-closed. Only when he saw Naruto following behind Guy did his eyelids flicker imperceptibly.
"What's wrong, Kai? Why are you looking for me so early?" Kakashi's emotionless voice came from under his mask.
"Kakashi, I'll be away on a mission for about half a month. Could you please help me mentor this student and teach him some ninjutsu?" Guy didn't mince words and stated his thoughts directly.
He's not the kind of person who beats around the bush.
You want me to teach Naruto?
Kakashi didn't show it on his face, but in his heart he gave Guy a thumbs up.
Well done, Kai. After all these years, you've finally done one thing right.
He had no excuse to associate with Naruto.
He had already made a name for himself in the ninja world, and the spies in Konoha would keep an eye on the actions of these established ninjas. So even if he made contact with Naruto through some minor incident, Naruto would become a target of those spies' investigation.
Naruto's identity is a top secret, but there are still people watching and investigating.
Even with the slightest chance, Kakashi wouldn't do that; it's all for Naruto's safety.
His master left behind too many enemies!
However, if Kai introduces his disciple to himself, then that would be completely plausible under investigation.
Everyone knows that Guy is his good friend and Naruto is Guy's disciple. They have nothing to do with each other, so those spies won't focus their attention on Naruto.
