Chapter 12 Yu begins training
"Who is Katakuri?"
"It's Katakuri! Because he's the second son, we usually call him Katakuri 2."
"I thought he was a bit silly! Hahaha."
"No, 'Karn 2' is a nickname. He's really great, he's incredibly popular, it's hard not to like him!"
"Is he really that good?"
"He's got all sorts of good qualities, and he's incredibly doting on his younger sister, except his mouth is a bit big. But I still think he's very cute!"
"I see."
She slowly opened her eyes; she was dreaming again. While unconscious, she had dreamt that Katakuri was Katakuri, but this dream had an extra detail—Katakuri had a very large mouth.
Is that why he was wearing a scarf? Is that why he refused when I invited him to have dessert last time?
"Where's Katakuri?" Yu went to the deck first, but didn't see Katakuri, so she went to the restaurant.
"Lord Katakuri is having breakfast in his room."
Will he dine at the restaurant?
"Lord Katakuri is the strongest member of our Big Mom Pirates besides our mother. He would never reveal a single flaw, even while eating."
"That's right! Lord Katakuri has always been an undefeated legend!"
"Lord Katakuri has another myth you may not know. He is the perfect man who never lands on his back; he was born with his back never touching the ground!"
"...Do you all admire him?" Yu was somewhat speechless.
"Is that even a question!"
"...His back isn't touching the ground, doesn't he ever sleep? Isn't he tired?"
"What are you doing?" Katakuri suddenly appeared outside the restaurant. "Go on patrol when you're done."
In an instant, the people who had just praised Katakuri lowered their heads and dared not speak, quickly running away, some to do their work, others to patrol.
Yu wasn't really bothered, but thinking about her dream, she stared intently at Katakuri, trying to see through his scarf to his mouth.
Katakuri noticed Katakuri staring at the area below his mouth beneath his scarf, and feeling a little uncomfortable, reached out and tugged at the scarf. He then walked away without a word.
"?" You just left like that? Didn't you have anything to say to me?
Katakuri's indifferent attitude puzzled Yu, but it only lasted a short while before he quickly continued eating his breakfast.
During afternoon tea time, You prepared donuts and black tea. This time, she didn't have the chess pawn deliver them; instead, she went herself.
"Put your things down, you can go now." The person behind me didn't speak, nor did they leave. "Why aren't you leaving?"
Yu sat innocently in the chair, engrossed in reading a book, completely oblivious to Katakuri.
"you can go now."
"I'll just sit here and read, I won't bother you." Yu looked up and saw Katakuri looking hesitant, as if he wanted to eat but didn't. "If you want to eat, just eat, I won't do anything."
Katakuri strongly suspected that Yu was involved, but he had no evidence.
Katakuri is always punctual, and he doesn't want to waste a single second of his afternoon tea time. Seeing Yu's attitude, reasoning with him definitely won't work. However, Yu forgot that she can't beat Katakuri right now.
"what!"
The next second, Katakuri threw Yu out the door along with the book she was reading. Then, the door slammed shut.
"Is this really necessary! Can't we just talk this out?" Yu rubbed her bottom and got up from the ground angrily.
I'm so angry! I just wanted to see how he ate, was he so embarrassed?! And then he threw me out in a fit of rage!
If Yu didn't know he couldn't win, he would have already grabbed a weapon and charged in.
For several days in a row, Yu tried to stay in Katakuri's room during afternoon tea time, but each time he pestered her, she was thrown out, and in different ways each time. At first, Katakuri was relatively patient, grabbing Yu by the back of her collar, walking her behind the door, throwing her out, and then closing the door; later, it seemed like he got used to it, and he would just wrap his arms around Yu's waist and throw her out.
After throwing so many times, Katakuri even mastered the technique, throwing with great precision each time, leaving dents in the same spot outside the door.
Later on, Yu gave up. She was tired, not scared.
It didn't last long; Katakuri's afternoon tea workout was over, and he could finally enjoy himself. But he felt a void inside, probably because he'd gotten addicted to throwing things.
After finishing his afternoon tea, Katakuri couldn't resist going to see what Yu was doing.
Yu sat alone at her desk in the room, seemingly scribbling or drawing something. Her "works" were scattered haphazardly on the floor.
Katakuri, seeing the masterpiece in her room, sighed and facepalmed. "What are you doing?"
"Don't step on them! Those things on the ground are useful, they're just incomplete and need to be modified!"
"You want to learn the One-Sword Style?" He picked up a piece of paper from the ground and glanced at it. It was filled with drawings of various moves, with annotations on the sides.
Katakuri quickly understood what Yu meant by "modification." These techniques weren't suitable for Yu; although they could be considered perfect, a woman like her couldn't exert that kind of power.
"You came up with all of these yourself?" Katakuri looked at a few more pictures. These moves reminded him of someone, but it was just a fleeting thought. Yu and he shouldn't have any connection.
"No. A friend of mine thought I was too weak and wanted me to be his apprentice. He even showed me his One-Sword Style. But I didn't want to learn it then. Now I'm drawing it to learn. This style suits him, but not me, so I need to modify it. Hey, hey, hey, don't mess it up for me." Yu saw Katakuri looking at a few pictures and quickly ran over to snatch them back. "Don't look at them, he doesn't teach this to outsiders."
"Then why did I show it to you...?" I'm so angry.
"Can I be like you? Don't bother me, I'm focused on practicing One-Sword Style right now. You have a lot to do on your ship, go on."
With a "bang," the door slammed shut. This time, Katakuri was the one left outside.
