Chapter 39 Potions Class
Chapter 39 Potions Class
Although Harry only attended half of yesterday's flying lesson, he still couldn't resist taking a flight.
By a twist of fate, Professor McGonagall discovered Harry's talent for flying, and Harry once again became the youngest Seeker in Hogwarts history, just like in the original story.
Thea learned of the news when she heard the celebrations from Granfendo during breakfast the next day.
She immediately turned her head to look at Draco, and as she expected, the arrogance on Draco's face had turned into anger.
Noticing Thea's gaze, Draco slightly suppressed his anger and moved the milk in front of him toward Thea, suggesting she should eat more.
Seeing Draco's murderous expression, Thea silently finished her glass of milk.
Draco ultimately couldn't control his anger; the arrival of the Nimbus 2000 completely enraged the young master!
The number of letters suddenly increased dramatically today. Thea tried to ignore the complicated looks from the teachers' table, but before she knew it, a broom appeared in front of Harry Potter.
By the time she realized what was happening, Draco and his two henchmen had already made some harsh remarks to Harry.
Seeing the teasing looks from the young wizards around her, Thea thought to herself: Where did this troublesome little brother come from!
With a desire to beat her troublesome younger brother to death, Thea grabbed him and headed towards the Potions classroom.
Before Draco could question Thea, Thea brought up Professor Snape, effectively shutting Draco down.
The Potions classroom is a large underground classroom located in the dungeons of Hogwarts Castle.
Thea tugged at Draco's sleeve as she groped her way in, only to discover the unexpected wonder of the classroom once inside.
The classroom is large enough to accommodate at least twenty students, and the walls are covered with various glass jars containing animal specimens.
In one corner of the classroom, there was a storage cabinet containing various raw materials that students might use when making potions.
There is also a blackboard in the classroom, on which the potions teacher writes down the ingredients and preparation methods needed to make potions.
Although Thea was very interested in the classroom, it was colder and more gloomy than the main castle building above, which made Thea sneeze.
Draco immediately cast a warming spell on Thea, and their earlier disagreement vanished.
Before class even started, the entire classroom was already filled with neat rows of students.
When Snape came in, he noticed this as well. He glanced at all the young wizards with a somewhat gloomy expression, as if he regretted not finding any shops that had been penalized.
Snape began calling roll, and everything was normal until he called Harry Potter. The poor little boy immediately jumped up like a spring.
But Snape said sarcastically, "Harry Potter, this is our newest! A very famous person."
Harry couldn't understand why the professor was targeting him, so he could only stand there blankly in his seat.
Snape didn't look at him, but began his opening remarks: "You have come here to learn the precise science and rigorous process of potion-making."
Snape spoke in a low voice, enunciating each word clearly.
"Since there are no fools waving wands here, many of you won't believe this is magic."
I don't expect you to truly appreciate the subtle beauty of that simmering pot, its white smoke rising and its fragrant aroma wafting through the air. You won't truly understand the wondrous magic of the fluid that flows into people's veins, stirring their hearts and minds... I can teach you how to enhance your reputation, cultivate glory, and even prevent death, but there's one condition: you must not be the kind of fools I often encounter.
Harry trembled, deeply convinced that he was the fool and idiot the professor had described.
After Professor Snape finished his opening remarks, almost all the young wizards turned pale, as if they all sensed the professor's sternness.
“Potter!” Snape exclaimed suddenly. “What would I get if I added narcissus root powder to wormwood infusion?”
Poor Harry stammered, "Sorry... I don't know."
"So where can we find a piece of bezoar?" Snape asked again.
Harry stammered again, "I...I don't know."
"What's the difference between Aconitum carmichaelii and Aconitum ferox?" Professor Snape's tone was devoid of any emotion.
Harry was completely bewildered. He was absolutely certain that the professor in front of him was deliberately making things difficult for him. He shook his head again: "Sorry, I... don't know."
“That’s all, Potter,” Snape said in a cold, smooth voice. “It seems fame isn’t everything.”
Although Snape was somewhat prepared for Harry's Potions class results, Harry's performance today truly disappointed him.
He had assumed that Harry had inherited that stupid lion's Quidditch talent, and should at least have inherited some of his mother's talent as well.
But as it turns out, Harry wasn't really interested in potions.
Snape's somber gaze shifted from Harry, his tone even colder as he said, "Then, who can tell me the answers to these two questions?"
He ignored Hermione, who had her hands raised high, and turned his attention to another troublesome group.
"These questions shouldn't be too difficult for you, Miss Blake, right?"
Snape stared at the culprit who had ruined his potion. The old bee was really confused. He should have taken a good look at the little rascal's healthy face, so that he wouldn't be called to the office for no reason again!
Thea wasn't too surprised; she had long anticipated that Snape would definitely target her, and besides Potter, she was the biggest target.
She calmly stood up and, meeting Professor Snape's deathly gaze, slowly said, "Narcissus root powder and mugwort can be combined to make a very potent sleeping pill, the Water of Life and Death."
If I were to look for a piece of bezoar, you would look inside a cow's stomach.
There is no difference between *Aconitum carmichaelii* and *Aconitum kusnezoffii*; they are both aconite.
After speaking, Thea respectfully lowered her head, waiting for the professor to continue asking questions.
Snape had already heard about Thea's early learning, so he wasn't too surprised, and he didn't want to waste any more time on such a "boring" question.
He turned to the group of astonished young wizards and roared angrily, "If you don't know, why don't you write down the answer?"
Everyone immediately snapped out of their daze and began writing furiously in their notebooks.
Snape then stopped. He began explaining the precautions for making the "boil-curing potion," and then divided the students into groups of two to make the potion.
Thea and Draco are naturally in the same group.
Snape weaved between the tables, giving a stern lecture to all the young wizards, his roars echoing throughout the classroom.
The first Potions class, as always, ended with Neville blowing up the cauldron.
