Chapter 36, Lesson 1
Chapter 36, Lesson 1
The next morning, Thea got up early, prompted by her biological clock.
Seeing that there was still no movement in Daphne's bed, Thea tiptoed out of bed to wash up, then changed her clothes and casually wrote a note explaining that she had gone out.
Thea left the lounge without any hindrance. On the first day of school, Thea wanted to familiarize herself with the school route and mail the letter she had written the night before to the owl's room.
Since first-year classes didn't start until nine in the morning, Thea wasn't in a hurry. After asking countless portraits, Thea finally learned the exact location of the owl's resting hut.
Just as Thea was about to walk down the fourth-floor corridor, a figure in a purple robe appeared at the corner of the stairs, followed by a kind-looking old man descending the stairs.
"Oh, Thea? What are you doing here? Little wizards have the right to sleep in!"
Dumbledore, who had just come down the stairs, called out to Thea, who was about to go upstairs.
Thea was also startled by Dumbledore's sudden appearance. Without hesitation, she stepped forward and greeted him with utmost care: "Hello, Professor Dumbledore. I couldn't sleep this morning, so I thought I'd come to send a letter to Aunt Narcissa."
Thea answered honestly, since she had been asking about the portrait the whole way, and lying to Dumbledore was not a good choice.
"Oh, I see."
Dumbledore nodded and asked kindly, "Thea, have you had breakfast?"
Thea was a little confused by Dumbledore's question. She thought he was there to persuade her not to send yesterday's conflict to her Uncle Lucius, but he didn't mention it at all...
"...Not yet, I plan to have breakfast after I mail the letter," Thea continued in her reply.
Thea thought Dumbledore had finished asking his questions, but to her surprise, the next second, Dumbledore magically produced a sandwich.
As Dumbledore handed the sandwich to Thea, he kept muttering, "A little wizard can't go hungry."
Although Thea was completely baffled and didn't know what Dumbledore was up to, her body language betrayed her, and she respectfully accepted the well-packaged sandwich.
Even after Dumbledore came down the stairs, Thea still couldn't understand why he had given her a sandwich. Was he really worried that she was hungry?
Thea thought for a while but couldn't figure it out, so she simply went into an abandoned classroom to finish the sandwich before mailing the letter.
The sandwich wasn't big, about the size of a small wizard's meal, and Thea finished it quickly.
After sending out both letters, Thea noticed it was only 7:30, so she decided to go to the library.
Today is the first day of school, and the library is almost empty. Even Mrs. Pins hasn't arrived yet. Thea walked into the library with curiosity.
She didn't go to the book section immediately, but instead began to study the library's borrowing rules and Mrs. Pince's get off work hours.
After thoroughly understanding the borrowing rules, Thea began looking for books such as the Hogwarts school rules.
When you arrive in a new environment, the most important thing is to quickly understand the rules of that environment.
Mrs. Pince looked at the polite young wizard before her with a complicated expression, and asked again to confirm, "Miss Black, are you really going to borrow the Hogwarts school rules?"
“Yes, madam, I’m a little curious,” Thea replied politely, seemingly oblivious to Mrs. Pince’s complicated gaze.
Mrs. Pince looked the young wizard up and down. He didn't seem like the kind of mischievous kid who would deliberately break school rules.
Unable to resist Thea's sincerity, Mrs. Pince lent Thea the large stack of Hogwarts school rules and instructed her to take good care of the books and other trivial matters.
Thea got the book she wanted and thanked Mrs. Pings happily. After leaving the library, Thea carried the stack of school rules to the History of Magic classroom on the second floor of the castle.
It's about 8:30 now, and the classroom is already filled with about two-thirds of the young wizards.
Seeing Thea walk in carrying a huge pile of books, the young wizards were a little restless, but most of them still remembered what happened at the door last night, so they didn't dare to go too far and only asked a few questions out of curiosity.
Thea didn't pay any attention and chose a less conspicuous spot to sit down.
Soon, Draco and the others arrived at the classroom. Seeing that Thea was already there, they immediately sat down near her.
Even though Draco was used to Thea's bookish nature, he was still somewhat shocked: "Thea, you didn't get up early this morning to go reading, did you?"
When Thea heard Draco's question, she finally looked up from her book and slowly replied, "I also sent a letter."
Draco was speechless for a moment, but he quickly suggested, "Why don't you come find me? My Linka can deliver messages for you!"
This time, Thea didn't speak, but Draco's roommate Theodore exposed her, saying, "When Thea woke up, Draco, you were still sleeping, right? Why is Thea looking for Linka?"
Upon hearing Theodore's revelation, Daphne and Blaise, who were standing nearby, burst out laughing, while Draco's face turned bright red.
Draco was ultimately saved by the school bell.
After half a class of hypnosis by Professor Ghost Binns, only a handful of young wizards remained awake in the entire classroom.
Thea had previously learned about Professor Binns' teaching style, which was described as follows: He always talked on and on in a monotonous and boring voice, and even a passionate history like the Fairy Rebellion would be read by him in a way that was as dull as a work report.
At the time, I thought it was a bit exaggerated, but when Thea actually experienced it, she felt that the previous people's summary was quite accurate.
But Thea had been through the hardships of high school life, and her college experience had taught her: never underestimate anyone, especially if that person is your teacher.
Thea marked the textbook according to Professor Binns's explanation, but because the professor's knowledge points were very trivial, Thea planned to go to the library after class to do a self-study course on the history of magic.
Having made up her mind, Thea continued to patiently try to extract the key points for the exam from Professor Binns's dry lecture.
The school bell rang, and the sleeping little wizards slowly woke up. Thea was about to wake up the few next to her, looking at them sleeping soundly, and then at the densely packed knowledge points in her book.
Thea thought with a sense of exasperation: How can they sleep at this age?
Draco had just woken up when he met Thea's gaze, and he instinctively jolted.
Thanks to the preschool education at Malfoy Manor and Thea's strict discipline, Draco quickly realized the meaning behind Thea's look.
He quickly assured her, "Thea, don't worry, I just wasn't used to the environment today. Starting tomorrow... no, starting from the next class, I will definitely study hard!!"
Under Thea's death stare, Draco quickly changed his tune and even pulled in his good buddies, all of whom promised to study hard in the next class.
Seeing that the study group of only 8 people had been formed, Thea was satisfied and let them go.
